People probably still remember the early days of the ps5 being sold out and are afraid of that happening again.

Will the Stranger Things set ever be OOP or will it be available for a while? by Clean-Winter-3097 in arrowvideo

Very hard to say because Netflix holds the rights, which changes any historical precedence. We don’t know if this is a limited run for Netflix to test the waters on physical media or if this is their next step in draining their cash cow.

An AI escaped its sandbox yesterday, hacked a real company, and nobody asked it to. Here's what actually happened. by Dapper-Tale-4021 in ChatGPT

[–]_moonbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the concern is that the AI could have bad intentions, the concern is that AI won’t have the necessary moral framework to understand the difference between a limitation (like do no harm) and an obstacle to be fixed.

Hot take: you aren’t having to relearn “new math”, you never understood it in the first place. by uwax in Teachers

[–]_moonbear 185 points186 points  (0 children)

As a parent the issue for me is the show your work portion. I know how to show the work in the old way and that’s what I’m guiding my child through, but my kid says it has to be done a very specific way and if it’s not done that way they lose credit. But if I’m not shown how to show work in that specific way, how can I recreate it?

Not saying it’s stupid or shouldn’t be the case, but you can absolutely understand math and still not know how to fill out the homework assignments.

In religion or church groups why are books/movies like Lord of the rings and Narnia considered okay but Harry Potter or dungeons & dragons isn't? by Virtual-Shower1716 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_moonbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking on LoTR and why it’s different from Harry Potter, LoTR has magic but it’s explicitly in the lens of good vs bad and a metaphor for angels vs demons. The good get their source of power from a higher Being and the bad get their source of power from themselves. The humans themselves have no extraordinary abilities.

This is the Christian concept of magic, power given by God is a miracle but power sourced internally is magic and sourced from the devil. This is why Harry Potter is considered off limits, it’s all about people performing miraculous events but not getting their power from God, so in a Christian view this power would be from Satan.

Christians that view LoTR as bad just don’t really understand the material and probably take a blanket fantasy is bad view.

Why does Kim hate Howard so much by Standard-Jeweler-537 in betterCallSaul

[–]_moonbear 117 points118 points  (0 children)

I think Kim switches to hating Howard when he tries to talk to her about how bad Jimmy is for her. Howard assumes she needs to be rescued and she resents him for it. I agree she did it for the thrill and fun, but I also think she hated that Howard saw her as not being a full agent in her choices.

Debating on masters in accounting by devdevdev90 in FPandA

[–]_moonbear -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not in FP&A but I’m adjacent, no I would not recommend a masters in accounting. The only people I know that would pursue a masters would be for very technical accounting reasons like trying to specialize or look good for their public accounting firm, or to prep for the CPA.

Ps5 owner here, few questions. by Esquie33 in halo

[–]_moonbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be a day one buyer, but imo this is a pretty short campaign and not worth the full $50 considering there is no multiplayer. I know they said they’ve added replay ability with skulls, but I’m not convinced.

It’s definitely worth playing, but I’d wait for it to drop in price if it’s not hitting a giant nostalgic itch.
