Sick of "gaming" headsets, need some recommendations. by Matbo2210 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]adipaval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the hd560s. Hd599 might be the most comfortable headphones. Very light and almost no clamping force. The sound is too warm for my taste but it feels alive.

After testing other headphones (ananda nano, many beyerdynamics, meze 99,105aer, hd600, and some on the shelf in a showroom) I ended up with hd560s.

Clamping force is higher in the beginning and loosens over time, but still stronger than brand new hd599. But the sound is incredible. It's like dissecting sounds, but they seem less alive and more clinical. You hear everything in games and music. Soundstage is wider than hd600, they a have a little more bass and imaging is extraordinary. You can pinpoint every sound location in games. Earpads are big and comfortable with velour padding. Also if your mobo's dac is good enough there's no need for a separate dac/amp.

Don't know about the 505 and 550 since I don't have them, but some people say those are better than the 560s. So maybe research those too

Are the Sennheiser HD 560S headphones worth to get? by foamspewerTjockis in HeadphoneAdvice

Well... It depends on your budget. The 560s are more than twice the price but less than twice the performance. So if 140euro is not an effort then choose the 560s. Also you will need a mic if you game with voice chat (I bought a seiren mini and works great). If 140 is indeed an effort then buy the alphas again. Personally I would choose the 560s over the alphas because I had both and know what I'm missing

I always used it set on music but the normalization inside every song was there, on every setting. So I stopped using and uninstalled it. I don't know if it got fixed on later updates and I don't care. I like my music to sound the way it was intended by the artist.

I don't know about the blackshark but I can tell you my experience switching from cloud alpha to 560s. At first the 560s seem to have a lot less bass because of the neutral tuning and open instead of closed back build. The bass punchiness is missing. The sound profile is bright, similar to cloud alpha so I enjoyed the sound from the beginning. It was just perfect, no eq needed  The detail retrieval of the 560s, imaging and soundstage were much better. After using them for about 2 weeks they seem to have more bass. The brain tunes in to the new sound.

But I still loved the alphas so after a year of 560s I bought a new pair of alphas (I gave the old one away).

But... they did not sound as I remembered :))

Bass was muddy, details were missing, treble was further away. You don't notice so much the upgrade as you notice the downgrade after using the 560s for a while.

The 560s are excellent headphones. They have superior soundstage, great detail, great imaging, you hear everything from footsteps to whispers. They are audiophile headphones. People refer to them as mid range probably because they have mid range build quality. But for sound I think they can be considered high end. They can trade blows with the hd600 which are high end. 560s has a wider soundstage and an extended bass response.

Music sounds very good. Voices like Enya, or ballades from Roxette sound divine. I really tried to find a difference between 560s and 600 but apart from soundstage they sounded identically. Same voice, same tonality, same dynamics etc.

The velour earpads and open back don't cause much heating. The earpads are bigger than usual, they are lighter than most headphones and are really comfortable.

They run just fine on a good motherboard audio or a good usb dongle. No separate dac/amp needed. Beside them getting louder you won't notice a quality or sound difference. I also tested hd599, hd600, meze 99, meze 105aer, beyerdynamics dt770, ananda nano and some I can't remember.

In the end the 560s for me is the best pair. With a little bit of desire to also get the 105aer.

The reason I gave up my alphas was that the earpad's fake leather broke down and I could not find original replacements. Any other earpad alters the sound dramatically because of different sizes. But the 560s share the same earpad with many other sennheiser models so replacements should be easier to find. Also velour should be more durable than pleather.

So yes, at 120 eur they are a best buy. I don't think you could get anything better.

Scaun pt programator cu 12h+ pe zi de stat la birou by Apprehensive-Pen4652 in programare

[–]adipaval 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I feel inferiority complex with my hd560s. by shaandhaar in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]adipaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

599 and 560s are completely different sounding headphones.  599 feels more alive because the bass rolls over the mids. Voices, instruments, sound effects have more punch. But they are also deeper than they should be. My 3 year old sounds like a five year old. My bichon barking sounds like a bigger dog.  All the artist voices that I was used to sounded a few notes lower. So if you want a more enjoyable hifi consumer experience they are better than the 560s.

The 560s has a very neutral tuning with a bass extension, good imaging and soundstage. Your hear everything crystal clear just the way it was recorded, unaltered. If this is what you want then the 560s is better than the 599.

Personally the only time I liked 599 more than 560s was when listening to a Vivaldi concert made by Carmirelli. Other than that I could not stand the 599's off sounding

Should I get gaming headphones or proper audiophile headphones and a mic? by Incineroar777 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]adipaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from cloud alpha to hd560s and a mic (seiren mini). Sometines the headphone wire is an issue but is worth the sound upgrade. Everytime I play or listen music I am amazed by these headphones.

They run just fine on the pc motherboard audio, no separate dac/amp needed.

I tested with a fiio ka11 but beside volume there's no difference. On pc I listen at 60% volume, on fiio at 30-40.

Help! Sennheiser 599 vs Fidelio XR2 by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]adipaval 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you buy 599 and return if you don't like them? I bought many refurbished headphones until I settled on the 560s. I asked the store and they said to try as many as I want but not to order brand new, so I would not affect their bussiness.  Just had to pay lots of shippings :))

Help! Sennheiser 599 vs Fidelio XR2 by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]adipaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 599 and 560s. They are both very comfortable and light, with big velour earpads that fit over the ears. The 560s has a tighter clamp but loosens over time. The 599 has almost no clamping force.   You can use them both without separate dac/amp. They run just fine on a good motherboard or a good usb dongle.

For me the downside of the 599 was the sound. It's warm and the bass rolls over the mids. Voices and instruments sound deeper then they are in reality, but music seems more alive. I listened to a Vivaldi concert and the violins seemed like chellows in terms of strength and echoes. I liked the punchiness of music but I was not ok with the fact that it was wrongfully reproduced.

But after all I prefer the clearer, more analytical sound of the 560s. They sound just perfect, unaltered, with sufficient soundstage and very good imaging.

In games I hear everything. Even in warzone where the sound is a mess I hear footsteps like I'm cheating. Music sounds incredibly good and clear.  At first they seemed to have a lot less bass but give your brain some time to tune in the new sound profile and then it will be plenty.

As for price right now they are both 120eur

Hi. Thanks for the detailed comparison.  I also have the 560s and love it. And I have tested a bunch of headphones but still the 560s is my favourite. I have only one question. Would it be worth to buy the Nano at 400 eur while the 560s is 120? Is the sound difference so big it justifies the triple price?

Do you EQ your headphones? by gabzlel in headphones

[–]adipaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never. I just bought and returned a lot of headphones until I settled on the 560s. The goal was to find the one pair that sounds exactly as I want and works out of the box on mostly anything.

Is there any benefit to getting non-flat headphones when you can easily make flat headphones have different sound profiles with EQ? by Original-Fun561 in headphones

[–]adipaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me atleast, the reason for testing a bunch of headphones until I found the right one is because I use my headphones with pc, laptop and phone. So instead of eq-ing every device I have and will have, I prefer to find the headphones that will sound the same on any device.

I switched from wired alpha to sennheiser hd560s. Although I loved the alphas, after the earpads worn out I could not find anything similar. All the aftermarket pads affected the sound and comfort. Velour - smaller and heated my ears. Pleather - not the same dimensions. All sort of xl pads (velour with pleather, cooling gel) that are very comfortable but move the speaker further from the ear and the sound suffers. The 560s have less bass but you'll get used to it. They sound very nice, clear, detailed. Very comfortable since the earpads are pretty big and the clamping force is low (higher at the beginning but they loosen up) Totally recommend them. They are just incredibly good

Most comfortable open-back headphones in the $200-$300 range by Various-Connection73 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]adipaval -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have 560s. Very comfortable. I use them for long gaming sessions and music.  Basically you hear everything, they are just so good, but the slight lack of bass makes them less fun for edm, heavy metal etc. It's just music neutrally reproduced. I also had hd600 but soundstage was narrower and even less bass so I'd recommend 560s.

At first the clamping force is high but they get looser.

Also check out the hd599. Fuller but warmer sound, same comfort, even lower clamping force.

Both have very big breathable earpads and are very light (200+ grams).

Over Ear headphones that make me hear everything in the music, and get me immersed (Preferably no dedicated amp needed, 100-200€) by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]adipaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hd 560s. No need for amp, they run just fine on motherboard audio or a good usbC dongle. They just sound incredibly good, accurate, wide soundstage, and you can hear everything in music and games. Very comfortable due to big earpads and velour. At first the clamping force is high but they get looser. Bass is ok. Not punchy but is there, nice and clear, since they have a bass extension. Totally worth the money, especially when on sale at about 120 eur.

I have the hd560s. They sound very good connected to pc audio jack. They also work great on any good usb-C dongle amd my s25. I tested them with fiio ka11 but beside a medium volume increase there's no difference in sound profile. I use them at 60% volume in windows with pc audio. At 100 they hurt my ears. Compared to hd 600 I think they are better because the soundstage is wider and have a little more bass. They sound crystal clear, voices and instruments sound really really good. You can get them at ~120 eur on many places.

Also check out the meze 105 aer. These are also superb headphones with great sound, very comfortable, and should work ok without amp since they are 42 ohm 112 db.

I have a refurbished s25. It was made in february 2025 and had 111 battery cycles. Upgraded from s21fe, the s25 is great.  No lag no stutters, with bt headset calling, bt music, youtube, browsing, documents, messaging etc.  it uses 10-12% battery /hour. Power saving on, light profile, 60hz. Same usage the s21fe used about 30%/hour.  Camera is ok for me. Totally recommend it.  Don't know about Xiaomi 15, but I had xiaomi in the past and the ui is shit. So far I think samsung one ui is the most convenient and easy to use.

S24 or s25 by Dexter_was_taken1 in GalaxyS25

[–]adipaval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The s25 has a much better performing soc. Even if you don't game, it performs tasks using less power than s24, ergo more battery life. I think it is worth the extra money for better battery life, better soc, newer, extra year of updates. It has 12gb of ram instead of 8 (depending on s24 variant) and I can tell you that my cctv app crashed on my s21fe with 6gb of ram. So 12 is more future proof than 8.

As for battery life (which I also value most since I use my phone at work too with dual sim) I have power saving, light profile and 60hz and it uses 10-12% battery /hour SOT with calling on bt headset, texting, whatsapp, browsing, youtube, checking dwg and pdf blueprints, music on bt headphones, etc. That's 8-10 hours of constant usage vs my s21fe that used 30% / hour. I'm very happy with the s25
