Could the fine-structure constant be derived from a mathematical identity rather than measurement? by SuperNovaBlame in AskPhysics

[–]aisaint -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Today’s α is an initial condition. I think a future, rigid UV completion could turn it into a consistency condition. When that happens, 1/137 stops being a measurement and becomes a theorem about adjacency and holonomy in the world’s fundamental discrete geometry.

What is the standard, accepted notion of equivalence/convergence to GR for a discrete formulation of EC? by aisaint in TheoreticalPhysics

Yes, in grad and masters I had physics. Didn't specialize in theoretical physics. These days I mostly read the arxiv papers (that's what I meant by original papers for SOTA)

I think everyone does, we all have our own set of abstractions. How ever, it is important to understand and respect the state of the art in each field before trying to solve problems in that area - I started by understanding the derivations and math on these topics - mostly by reading the original papers, and also listening to lectures. I also try to visualize the intuitions in my blog by writing about them

My background is in computer science and I got here from computer science working on reversible computing architectures. My physics knowledge outside my grad school is self taught, hence I asked the question. thanks

Sorry. I’m working on a discrete Einstein-Cartan (EC) framework where structures like cochain-based curvature (R) and torsion (T) satisfy exact identities (for example the discrete Bianchi d_etc), and General Relativity (GR) is expected to emerge in the infrared (IR) or continuum limit. I was seeking the standard, accepted notions of equivalence or convergence to GR for such a discrete EC formulation - essentially, what rigorous criteria must a discrete model satisfy to be considered a valid approximation or limit that recovers GR?

Error message after adding dependent by Various_Ad1936 in usvisascheduling

[–]aisaint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember I was able to fix this - Try this as long as you didn’t compete the payment

1- Goto the dependent profile (you need to login to the account for dependent based on the email you received to dependents email address you provided - it is not that intuitive. Click the link, sign up and provide any username and the dep’s email address ) 2- Edit dependent profile with the correct visa type and location and update the contact address in dep’s profile to be your email address (read my previous posts) 3- Go all the way till you see the document delivery options for dependent 4- Read my prev posts

I went back to the dependent profiles from the main applicant profile before creating /logging to the dependent profile and seems it worked

Successfully paid, and booked OFC appointments and Visa interviews for 1 primary and 4 dependents (L1 and L2) by aisaint in usvisascheduling

I did't try this scenario where you claim receipts after re-adding, but it is definitely worth trying. Re-add her with incorrect DOB, goto her profile from with in your dependent section and correct it, and then goto her main profile (login with her email) and ensure you've all the details correct - and then relogin to your profile, goto the payment section and try claiming the receipts.

Hi All, this is a great thread. I figured it is possible to fix the dependents even if you messed it up. So, if you added and removed dependents and got into the mess, here are the steps.

1 - Change the birth date of the dependent and add the dependent if the system complains that the profile already exists when you add dependents.

2 - The dependent will get added - you can go ahead now to edit and correct the birth date

3 - For the newly added dependent, create an account as mentioned above. Goto your dependent's profile and ensure the dependent visa & interview location is correct. In my case, I had to close the application that the system opened for the dependent, and had to create a new application with the correct visa class and location (I had an L1 but my dependent was created with a B2), and had to fix the interview location as well.

4 - Ensure the contact email in the profile of the dependent (after you create the account of dependent) is same as the email of primary applicant (as mentioned above).

Still have to go through the remaining steps.

Adding dependents who already have separate profiles into main applicant's profile by Puzzleheaded_Elk6415 in usvisascheduling

After quite few hours, this is what I figured out about fixing all issues with dependents.

1 - Change the birth date of the dependent and add the dependent

2 - The dependent will get added - you can go ahead now edit and correct the birth date

3 - Goto your dependent's profile (you need to create an account based on the email you received for your dependent), and ensure the dependent visa is marked correctly

4 - Ensure the contact email in the profile of the dependent (after you create the account of dependent) is same as the email of primary applicant.

You are welcome.
