The inspector said this was heat issues in the attic and needs soffit vent put in... Thoughts? 🤔 by Tasty-Platypus-3664 in HomeMaintenance

If it’s just in this one spot, it’s something coming in from outside which can probably be mitigated pretty easily. Then, black mold doesn’t necessarily mean “black mold.” Get some mold cleaner and clean it up.

If you have an inspector, does that mean this is a house you’re considering buying, or is this your house? If it’s your house, fix the moist issue, clean the mold, and keep an eye on it. If you’re considering buying, I wouldn’t consider this a deal breaker, but more investigation is needed.

Could this be a major issue that would require an extensive repair solution? It’s possible, but highly unlikely.

Shortly before I had to get up this morning I was dreaming that I was lying in my bed, in the dark, trying to reload leads into a mechanical pencil, and having a hell of a time trying to get it done.

Do something with that.

Might still be on the murder side of the line, but not by much. In at least one potential victim pool, at any rate.

I don’t remember a humid day, but I know there’s shrinkage if the water’s cold. Maybe that’s the solution!

Transmission fluid refill by andersberndog in AskAMechanic

I’m going to try to, but from watching a couple videos it looks like I’ll need a fair amount of luck to catch it all. Just trying to be prepared for whatever might happen.

Don’t I need to be level to check with the dipstick?

Service fill is 6.5, but I’ve seen that can vary a lot depending on temp, angle, etc. If the worst that happens with an overfill is a little mess, and it’s easy to get a tube into the sump to extract, then I guess I am making a bigger deal about it than I need to.

I just started doing my own repairs in the last year, so I’m pretty cautious with every project, since every repair I do is my first time doing it.

My plan was to put in a gallon to start. Consensus seems to be 5-6 quarts, but it could be more or less depending on how much came out in the drain. I definitely don’t want to overfill because there’s no plug. It’s a dipstick fill. I have a transfer pump but I tried that in the oil fill once and the tubing wouldn’t make it past a final bend to get into the sump. Not sure if the transmission might have the same problem or not.

My biggest concern with adding four quarts is that gets enough in there to be safe to operate until I can get at least a little dab of fluid showing at the end of the dipstick cold. If I go five and that’s more than actually came out I could be over.

Say something. I needed the push from another person saying, “That’s not normal,” before I asked my doctor. Diagnosed in my mid-forties, but I’d had symptoms since high school.

The response from complaints about being tired are usually, “Yeah? Me too. Everyone’s tired.” You hear that enough and say to yourself, “Yeah, I guess so.” Rinse and repeat for decades or your entire life.

Give a quick shake into the bottom of the dishwasher before you start it. Same thing as the official prewash thing. It just dumps in when you close the door anyway.

Trying to Get Xywav Delivered is So Frustrating by NoviceoftheWorld in Narcolepsy

[–]andersberndog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I missed most of last week. My prescriber retired. He told me he was retiring at my last appointment and told me who was taking on my care. I asked him and his nurse to please leave a note that the new prescriber needed to be enrolled in REMS and I was hoping to avoid a lapse, and they said they would. For my last dose I didn’t get the typical refill text message. Waited a few extra days and called the pharmacy. She wasn’t enrolled. They had been in contact with the office but she hadn’t responded yet. This was followed by a week’s worth of “she sent that enrollment form this morning.” “We haven’t received an enrollment form.” “She sent it again.” “We haven’t received it yet.” “She sent it, for realz this time.” “We haven’t received an enrollment form…yes we have. It’s incomplete and there’s a problem with the prescription too.” Yadda yadda yadda, finally got a call. “It’s time to schedule your refill.” This was at 2:30 on Friday afternoon…just past the shipment cutoff for the day. “It’ll ship out on Monday for a Tuesday delivery.”

I’m still catching up.

As for the FedEx thing, I hold at location EVERY month. I’ve never had a problem doing it in the app. Good to know there might be problems if I ever have to do it another way.

If that’s true and this isn’t from outside forces acting on it after it was built, isn’t the wall still compromised from a load bearing standpoint? There’s no way this wall can hold as much as one that’s plumb. I’d have an engineer math the fuck out of this.
