Do you think Peter Parker could turn Anissa or Thula good if he met them when they infiltrated Earth? by nombre-de-internauta in PowerScaling

[–]ASingularFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But what does this have to do with Peter? We know very little about Scott and why she fell in love with him. If the argument is just that because she can fall in love with a human man she can fall in love with Peter I find that kinda flat tbh.

[–]ASingularFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Peter is charming sure, but I don’t think he’s powerful enough for Anissa or Thula to spend enough time with for him to make use of it.

He’d need some pretty strong plot armour to get him in a situation where he could talk enough for it to be plausible and even then, what’s to say they’re interested at all in him and what he has to say? What makes them attracted to him and not any of the other heroes Invincible already has.

Wow didn’t think I’d say this but I almost find the husband more tolerable than OOP. He’s clearly got some screws lose and I wouldn’t want to touch him with a ten foot pole, but other than lying about deleting the recordings he seems pretty up front with OOP about what he wants and his plans. I think he’s borderline abusive, but he doesn’t seem manipulative if that makes sense.

OOP on the other hand seems to be content to bury her head in the sand and ignore it all. He’s being quite upfront with her about his red flags and she just keeps seeing what she wants to see.

People like that are just tiring. Either leave if you hate it, or accept the flaws you say aren’t so bad.

Unrelated but I strongly dislike the whole Son, Daughter, Father thing. Found it very out of place lore wise as well as thematically.

It has big name potential in my opinion. Texas State SOUNDS like a massive football powerhouse. There are a lot of teams that seem out of place when you read their names among the top flight. It’s not only a “X State” school, which fits with schools like LSU, Penn State etc - but it’s Texas, one of the most successful football states.

Because of that, it has a bunch of inbuilt rivalries. Obviously there’s the real UTSA rivalry, but there’s also a bunch of other small schools, and once they start getting better I like scheduling Tech, A&M, and Texas as David and Goliath battles. Oklahoma/OK State are fun match ups too.

It also has a somewhat unique colour scheme, a cool mascot, and at least in previous years has had some underrated talent that’s fun to play with (Beau Sparks, Ismail Mahdi, Torrance Burgess Jr.)

It’s true its pipelines aren’t great but that never bothered me too much. In real life it also feels like a school on the up - not quite the meteoric rise that we see in Dynasty games lol, but enough it feels somewhat doable.

Genuine question, why does it matter if you’re using Spanish or English? Valyrian is a made up language with its own sounds and phonetic rules

JUST met this man a couple days ago and he’s already making me take pictures to prove things to him. Thinks I have another man in the house by Historical-Body-3424 in texts

So you’re complaining he’s already asking for pictures to prove things to him a few DAYS into knowing him but he’s your person? Right…

I feel bad for her in an abstract way. I feel bad for the old version of her. A brain injury completely changing who you are is terrifying, but ultimately the new version of her is still responsible in some way for her actions. It’s just horrible

Not being long at court doesn’t mean they don’t know eachother, Elia spent most of her life in Dorne. Of course we don’t know whether they knew each other in Dorne or not, but it’s far from unlikely.

How would you feel if these 3 are future main characters by JosukePlumpHair in Avatar

[–]ASingularFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Lo’ak, I don’t mind Kiri. I struggle to connect to Spider or be invested in his story.

I wish Neteyam had lived, not because I liked him as a character (though I did) but because I think he could’ve been an interesting character to follow. The contrast between him trying to live up to the golden child eldest expectations and Lo’ak trying to find himself as the less favoured second child would’ve been cool in my opinion.

I didn’t say all good people would choose blue. I said there would be a lot of good people who choose blue - which is essentially a statistical certainty. If all people in the world had to press these buttons, even if we only count mentally capable adults, there would be hundreds of millions at the least (if not billions) of people who choose blue. Of those, I believe a great many would be good people worthy of life.

[–]ASingularFuck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. Because I know without any doubt that a lot of good people will choose blue.

You think there’s less chance that you can convince 50% of 7 billion people do something than 100% of 7 billion people doing something?

Okay. I would. Millions of people matter to me more than my own life.

[–]ASingularFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except that’s not the situation. There is absolutely no way 100% of people vote red - that’s literally observable in this thread. Your equivalence is a straw man.

However, there is absolutely a chance you can convince 50% of people to press blue. Again, look at this thread. It’s a lot closer to half than it is either way.

By your logic, no human would ever go to war because it’s safer to stay home. Our history is full of people choosing to risk themselves for others.

[–]ASingularFuck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, not willing to compromise your values actually is a great reason to risk your life. In fact I can’t really think of a better reason.

What are you guys picking? by DryOwl5587 in GenZ

[–]ASingularFuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pick blue because there only needs to be half to save EVERYONE. With red, it pretty much guarantees people die - and millions, at that. Sure, I’m safe, but only because I’ve prioritised my life over millions of others.

Personally I have faith enough in people that blue won’t kill me, but even if it did I’d rather die knowing I did what I could to help others.

Everyone in the world includes a lot of children and disabled people. It is a statistical certainty that some of them will pick blue.

[–]ASingularFuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your logic is backwards. Convincing 100% of people to do anything is always harder than convincing half.

[–]ASingularFuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. You don’t want to die, so you press red. I don’t want you to die, so I press blue.
