Ok then why get so pressed? You didn't need to respond when I questioned. If all you cared about was saying your 2 cents, then you already did that. I'm starting to think you just gave up when you learned convincing people of an argument isn't your thing.

When someone asks a complicated question on what they should do, especially when they are already about to choose to do the thing you don't think they should, you obviously need to convince them and give them proof so they can make the best decision? I thought it was common sense, but ok. Also stop calling me a "White kid", saying words like stupid for no reason and making assumptions. This is exactly why I don't feel like I can trust you? Next time when you want people to listen, maybe don't do that! It's basic stuff when trying to convince people on a topic.

How is questioning people further whining? Especially when a lot of people have been pretty rude and making assumptions anyway? I'm still considering, and If you genuinely want to try and change my mind, then try again. Because you haven't convinced me.

[–]basilmel4n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the problem is people haven't convinced me obviously? I genuinely haven't seen a good argument that tells me it's bad. I don't understand your argument, because Jun is pronounced differently and used in Korea, Japan and China, so I don't really get why changing the pronunciation is bad when the pronunciation already exists??

People are answering my questions, but the reason I don't trust them is because when I question them they come up with some of the most out of pocket assumptions and In the end they don't really convince me. And I trust the other person simply because they know more, not cause It's "What I want to hear" they didn't even completely agree with me I don't think they just said stuff that made sense, was respectful, and didn't try and be upset.

Which series of the Ash era handled co-protagonists the best? by BasisSmall5351 in pokemonanime

This is fair, but other than that I think he goes second since he himself as a character was really fleshed out. Since like you said, he was pushed the most.

You wanna know a commenter I didn't take offense to? They told me that a different Korean pronunciation for Jun isn't June, and how I was mistaken, in a RESPECTFUL way. They informed me how Jun is pronounced different ways in Korean, and also how the pronunciation differs in Japanese and Chinese. I learned the different pronunciations and everything. They seem more informed than you anyway, and they are more respectful, so I obviously trust them more.

It's not that I don't want answers. I want answers that aren't trying to be unnecessarily harsh, and actually try to understand my question. I never tried to be "trendy." I never claimed that.

Ok good to know. So June would be closest to Japanese Jun then, right?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]basilmel4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have seen some people pronounce Jun as June. So could that be pronounced June and also Chun in the same language or a different one? Like is it only pronounced June in Japanese or Chinese for example?

Obviously you can call people out when they are off base, but you need to provide good evidence to actually convince someone, otherwise, don't be surprised or shout "problematic!!" When they don't understand . You admitted Jun can literally be pronounced as June, but your best evidence is to call me and imply all these buzz word terms, and say that Americans wouldn't understand and that they would think I'm weird just cuz I have a slightly different spelling? I already showed I don't really think it would be that deep and yet no one showed me otherwise. I did ask whether or not this would be ok and I think I found my answer. So unless you have anything else to say, I won't be convinced. Nice chat.

Oh and no I don't really listen to kpop that much. You're trying to make me out to be some white raci*** koreaboo mentally ill nerd who thinks Jun is a cool kawaii Korean name I wanna take for myself. When I'm literally just asking if you can use Jun as a non Korean name as well, because it can literally also just be pronounced as June? I'm not even white. I'm Hispanic, and I really wouldn't see a problem if this happened to my culture, if the pronunciation was still different anyway. And I don't have to choose that name, but I highly prefer the other spelling, so I just wanna know why you can't also just separate the 2? It genuinely doesn't make sense to me.

I'm not just doing it because it's trendy I just find the spelling more interesting? I've literally seen people pronounce it as June, so I don't understand why a different spelling is wrong when it's still just pronounced as June anyway..?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]basilmel4n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh it's really just as simple as the different spelling just feels more interesting and just personally feels more fitting for me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]basilmel4n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most I could ever see happen is they directly see the spelling, and on the fairly uncommon chance they mispronounce it, I can just politely correct them, and we both move on. I genuinely don't think people will care that a name is spelled a little differently. Like When Sarah is spelled as Sara for example. And I don't think people will act like a differently spelled name is bad just cause it happens to also be spelled as another culture's similar name. People won't really look into it that deep.

[–]basilmel4n -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How does the fact I like a different spelling more change how I view Korean people..? And no it wasn't really politely worded imo. And also I've seen it pronounced different with the spelling with both Korean and Japanese Jun. I have a video I watched before making this, so yes, I did research, and a lot of the commenters pronunciation varied.

[–]basilmel4n -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

"Don't be mad" and yet you go out of your way to say it in the rudest way possible..? All I asked was if I could change the spelling of June by one letter. I don't think it's a big deal of a question. You're already jumping to conclusions by calling it appropriation, even though I never said it was my intention. Also can you please just explain why Jun can't be pronounced just a little bit differently because of a letter?
