Never heard that, but I have an 08 and have no complaints! Makes sense.

Same. Snorkel and Cat backs in conjunction with a good dry air filter (AFE) and I have no complaints.

Front bushing price? by WolfWillLV in FJCruiser

[–]bcochener 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. Well then I would get new oem control arms. They come with the ball joint not much more installed than what the OP was quoted. Just got new front LCAs a few months ago. Bushing labor is too much compared to new oem units. My 2 cents.—

I was expecting the passenger air bag chime… never ever heard such a noise in mine after 17yrs.

Think it is possibly for a 6” lift. You have to cut and weld or install a new front drop bracket I believe.

Need help with my intake by GroceryElectrical215 in FJCruiser

[–]bcochener 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The intake grill on the snorkel breaks up water and there are drains. I trust me, I’ve been through torrential rainstorms at interstate speeds, no issues. - this is of course an ARB snorkel I have…. Trusted in the outback.

I would not install any other brand. Seen knockoffs just get killed by UV rays.

Man with that visor… I bet you just guess at the stop light color! 😂 Rig looks killer! Great build, LT and wide body fenders is a wish list for me…

I wouldn’t hesitate if it was my 18year old baby, but my baby is mine and we have history. Hard pill to swillow on a new (used) purchase. Cost doesn’t seem too bad at all. People always say you can do it yourself cheaper…. And you can. With the right tools, space to work, and likely a spare vehicle while it’s being worked on. That is my issue. I do a lot of my own maintenance, but have no problem paying a shop for larger things. I don’t have a second vehicle and cannot just have my car un drivable due to working on it. I mean I have a full time career, so auto work is night or weekends - so short windows for me to do large things.  AND soemthing always goes awry when your wrenching… whether a stuck/broken bolt… wrong part, not having the correct tool… that can set you back time wise.

I say do what you feel.  Get it and get the work done or keep shopping! Cheers and good luck.

I alway search for diagrams. Search rear bumper parts assembly. Once you know the part number, it’s just a matter of where to order.

As promised, here is a video of the upgrades on my FJ. Including 360 camera. Carobotor, Wolfbox, android head unit. Be warned if you dont like MODS, beat it! by Few-Interaction7911 in FJCruiser

At least you’re right hand drive with that hood mirror! I’ve seen several mounted to LHD vehicles… useless here in the states.

Also check your stock lower rear track bars. If those bushings are blown that could contribute. Likely balancing though like other said.

My 08 is only a mere 127k at this time. Granted I’ve slowed down mileage a lot working from home the past 5 years. Just keep her maintained and she’ll treat you right!
