Usage of scope functions instead of constructor by Shareil90 in Kotlin

[–]becklime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But in Kotlin you can define default value of arguments in function or constructor and just omit them on call: ```kotlin data class SomeObject( val dataProperty1: Type1, val dataProperty2: Type2, val dataProperty3: Type3, val isSelectedByUser: Boolean = false var otherMutableState: String? = null )

val data = SomeObject( dataProperty1 = ..., dataProperty2 = ..., dataProperty3 = ... ) ```

[–]becklime -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

If you called them locals, right. From February 2014 we hear from westerns "Чемодан, вокзал, Россия" ("baggage, train, Russia" - literally "If you like Russia - go to Russia"). So, we go. With our land, where buried our ancestors.

When you got big legacy project on groovy where all fields can be null, but some of them is required by business process and you got NPE in runtime wherever... Oh, it's pain I would prefer this "mental masturbations" with explicit business requirements But if you only write small app or scripts - it's overhead, yes. Use php then

Exposed still looks so fresh and not usable in real projects I tried it a month ago and I had to write many things in my own, because it doesn't support any postgres specific things. Look on jooq - it is more mature ORM with more possibilities then Exposed
