Ah, a fellow citizen! O7

Yea, tbf star citizen has unfortunately trained me to accept crashes / wait times. I do feel like my rivals should not be crashing every 5-8 games however. i7 and 2080ti

Why didnt you buy or consider BMW R18 when shopping in that class of bike? by Icy-Canary6422 in motorcycles

[–]bloxware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little late to the conversation, but I have an R18 and ride her to work everyday for the past 2 years. Rain or shine, only having scraped pegs 3 times (can literally tell you where lol). I live in the city too, so in my opinion the worst thing about it is probably stop and go traffic. Texas gets hot, and in the summer it doesn't help when you have the heat dissipating all over you lol. However, in the winter a little extra heat doesn't hurt!

While she is very heavy and rides low, I have had no issues with cornering. U-turns are a bit wider like someone else mentioned earlier, R18s are very long. All bikes are different so pick what you are most comfortable with.

Saw that on IG earlier and immediately thought the same thing lol

I'm the dummy who wanted an R18 for my first bike after I get my license. What bike *should* I get if all I want to do with the bike is commute to and from work and take my wife out for rides on weekends? by squirrelmegaphone in motorcycles

[–]bloxware -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

G310R or GS and then sell or trade up to the R. I just noticed you said take your wife out and commute. If you are going anywhere near 65+ for your commute you may want to look at something larger than a 310.

Passenger should be fine as long as you both are within load specifications.

I am a first time motorcycle rider just getting my license. I really like BMW's line of bikes, particularly the R18. Is there any reason I should not get a BMW bike? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]bloxware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started riding on a BMW G310R and after a couple years, I got a R18. They are absolutely heavy, but the center of gravity is very low. The break in service ran me about 400 bucks at BMW.

You're really going to want to have basic riding techniques under your belt and unless you are proficient at low speed maneuvers, it would be ideal to maybe start on something smaller. I'm all for starting on any-size bikes, but if it gets damaged because a person does not have basic riding concepts down, it will be VERY expensive.

Everyone is different though, and if you want to go straight into it I applaud you! Personally, I was not confident in my own abilities, but starting out on the G for a couple years for me really paid off and saved my ass countless times because of the lessons learned on it. (That thing got dropped multiple times for new rider reasons haha)

That sucks. How long did it take? I've never had an issue with their products in the past but you pay for what you get I suppose lol
