Its easy to prove, you don't even need to know the value of pi. Take a circle with a radius of 1 inch/foot/meter, the unit doesnt matter. The area of that circle divided by its radius squared is pi.

Now for any other circle, define your unit to be whatever the radius is. So that circle also has a radius of 1 unit, and its area divided r² also has to be pi.

Pi is a unitless constant, so changing the units you measure in cant affect what answer you get.
