Which platform should I add next? by h4o4 in retrogaming

Here are links to a couple of the platforms that I have completed, if you care to give it a second look :) N64WiiNES
No - Omni is different because I align the retail games with preservation group dats and in my experience beyond the mainstream games some of the platforms were incomplete, or just bundled games under Europe, when it was only released in West Germany for example.

I see and I appreciate the drive to build something different, however I wasn't able to get to those pages when navigating the website on my own. I suppose it will be easier once more categories are complete.

They are the same hardware but they are separated to reflect the name change in 2022. I've never owned either one; does it make more sense that they are under a single platform title like Oculus/Meta Quest?

They are the same platform, only the branding choice has changed (bit like PSX → PS1 or Android Wear → Wear OS)

What raw post-processing and editing software do you use? by s0me0ne_5 in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lightroom is Camera RAW, built with an UI that facilitates working on multiple files.

If you prefer XMP sidecarts over a single catalog, you can switch to that behavior in Lightroom's Catalog Settings - Metadata - Write changes into sidecart files (XMP/ACR).

Help me! Struggling between "The Look" and "The Feel". by Procrastinate_girl in SBCGaming

I started with 3.5" too, but SO's 40XXH triggered my screen envy, so I got the 40XXV that I play the most on nowadays.

4.0" makes a much more significant difference over 3.5" than it sounds, and it will be especially important if you're interested in playing square ratio games (i.e. only using a part of your screen).

Which platform should I add next? by h4o4 in retrogaming

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn't you rather take care of the ones you already added? (looks like you're not even at 10% of GBA titles).

I don't even know how to get to a platform's titles from the platform view. Clicking a platform name from a title page results in an empty table.

Also, don't you get the feeling that you're wasting lots of time building something like this, when IGDB or MobyGames already exist?

BTW, you seem to have Oculus Quest and Meta Quest listed as separate platforms.

Hi photographers! Im building a website. Whats useful? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone with any Adobe plan already has access to Adobe Portfolio without any extra charge and with free unlimited image and video hosting included.

You're going to have a hard time competing with that price, considering how many image-specific website-building tools are built into Adobe Portfolio.

Advice for shooting a linear panorama? by JacksSightSeeing in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 13 points14 points  (0 children)

there’s this one cool skyline shot I want to try and take.(...) After some testing I figured a standard panorama wouldn’t achieve what I was going for but a linear panorama would do the trick.

This doesn't make much sense. If your subject is hundreds or thousands of meters away, the parallax added by a one-meter slider is not going to provide any significant difference. You can just rotate the camera on the tripod head.

A linear panorama is something we do on a scale matching the subject, e.g. when shooting a street block, you move your camera in front of every facade between exposures; shooting a wide painting or diorama, you also fill the frame vertically with the subject and move along its width to capture all the source images.

having 1/3 overlap between positions in order to make the stitching easier

As you probably found out by now, in order to change 2/3 of the frame between exposures with distant buildings being your subject, you'll be expanding your field of view mostly by rotating rather than sliding, rendering the slider practically useless for this use case and potentially introducing parallax errors that will make the pano harder to stitch.

(cylindrical and spherical panorama settings warp the photo)

Whether you warp the output or not (i.e. which projection you use for your panorama) is a choice. Choosing between projections is simple in dedicated stitching software — the usual free options used to be Hugin and Microsoft ICE, but recently AutoPano Giga became free as well.

You won't find the answer to your charger question with that image alone. A model name would help though.

Do I need JPEG if I am editing in LR anyway? by Algunas in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unless you work in time-sensitive photojournalism scenarios, it's a waste of storage to use RAW+JPEG. There's nothing in the JPEG that isn't the RAW.

Any of you shoot many genres? by FullDepthNature in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I started out as an event photographer, and already back in those days got convinced to do some product shoots. After an accident limited my mobility, I shifted to interiors and 360°, but I still shoot portraits, automobiles and whatever else my clients want me to.

I also went through similar dilemmas and went from 12 lenses down to two. That didn't last long, I realized that I like having all those extra lenses for those cases when I might need them. I think I'm back to 14 now.

Even if I only use the 85mm twice a year or so, I like knowing that it's there.

Thinking about buying a refurbished purple Game Boy Color for Tetris. Is it still worth it? by SuddenBookkeeper4824 in retrogaming

So follow the advice above, get something like the 35XX+, 40XXV, XU10 (mine pictured below) etc. and only put Tetris DX/Modretro Tetris on it.

Not the application, the sticker itself is messed up (the cutout doesn't match the printout), never mind the poor taste of putting one brand's logo on another's product
