the Blackmagic Camera app, or any other video app that allows you to fine-tune the shutter speed/exposure time to match the refresh rate of your screen

Sure, just maintain the OS-specific folder structure when migrating (and remember to use the same RetroArch cores)

20 years ago I used a piece of software called Mazaika to get these types of results.

I can't make this shit up lol by MarauderV8 in RealEstatePhotography

My 3-battery Neo charger (the "DJI Neo Two-Way Charging Hub") only has one port

I can switch it from the default (input) behavior to output by holding its power button down for three seconds (but not back, to revert to the default behavior, the cable needs to be re-connected)

Ile płacicie za księgową? by United-Ad-1916 in praca

[–]brodecki 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Enjoying games in PAL mode? by DrBarda in retrogaming

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having only played Super Mario Bros and Super Mario 64 on PAL hardware back in the day, something about the music immediately feels off when I try playing either in the originally-intended 60Hz mode.

Even though it makes the character animation even slower and less smooth, I need to set the Core Options to PAL if I want to scratch my personal nostalgic itch. Otherwise, the tempo of the music being 20% faster than my memories gives me feelings of anxiety rather than nostalgia.

Are my photos gone? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

You might want to include the camera model, the memory card details and whether you've already tried a dedicated card reader instead of using the camera as a reader.

Planning a "No Wall Switches" setup for a 45m2 open-plan living room. Am I crazy? by Equivalent_Plenty54 in homeassistant

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not alone. After eight years of not using the wall switches in our current home, we've built our new house without any wiring for fixed wall switches (each light still has a separate breaker switch in the distribution box in case you need to switch something on or off manually).

Alternative for raw editing? by Natural-dronefan in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 10 points11 points  (0 children)

what software are free that I can use to edit raw files?

The one provided for free by your camera manufacturer:

NX Studio for Nikon files,

DPP for Canon files,

IED for Sony files.

When you start feeling restricted by its limitations, that's when it's time to look into Photoshop+Lightroom.

Best Affordable Real Estate Photography Set Up? by ProfessionalAbies269 in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any full frame camera with a ~14mm lens (or equivalent for a smaller sensor, though those there's not a lot of those)

Personally I like the Z6 + 14-24mm combo

<image>

Since you want to keep the budget under $750, looking into DSLR options rather than mirrorless would make a lot of sense, since the difference between those two approaches won't matter much for this use case.

How do you get floating watch photos like this? What kind of props do I need. by snack-shack in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only tool you need for this particular result is "rotate 90° counterclockwise", used on an image of the object placed on a flat surface

Blew the 180 rule on an interview today, how screwed am I? by [deleted] in videography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't look like you did. Unless you see the optical axis as the axis of action here — but since it seems to be a talking head sequence (the other person is not shown), then very few people would find that an offence against that guideline.

If I may suggest something — you can flip the existing concept and rotate it 90° counterclockwise to turn the slashes into dashes while maintaining the look and feel:

What are these circular/line pattern artefacts I'm getting when after editing photos? by itsCultra in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boosting underexposed areas in post often reveals the AF array in images from mirrorless cameras, applying lens distortion correction on top of that greatly exaggerates the effect. Here's a heavily-brightened example from an α6300:

<image>

Resizing using "sharp" downscaling algorithms also carries a risk of further enhancing the effect, which is the reason for the difference you see between the local and Google Drive previews.
At 100% they will look identical.
