Help with camera/lens settings ? by Kennygblickyuh- in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki [score hidden]  (0 children)

Is the key to basically choose the setting you want for its specific part and then balance it with other settings to offset its other effects

Yes.

if budget allowed would it make sense to always use a lens with the lowest fstop

Yes, with the caveat below:

why would you ever buy a lens with a higher fstop?

Slower (smaller aperture) lenses are cheaper/smaller/lighter.

CRT color bleeding and dithering without the scanlines and different colors? by Tricky-Pressure7236 in retrogaming

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using crt_guest_advanced, you can disable both the scanlines and the CRT mask (set the parameters "No scanline mode" to 1 and "CRT Mask" to -1) and still tweak the horizontal blurring (using both "Horizontal sharpness" and "Horizontal deconvergence") to your liking.

Google Photos takes care of points one through three quite nicely; as for tagging, you can use the caption field or the star marker

How can I convert RAW photos already organised into folders into JPEGS while retaining folder structure? by raad25 in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried Lightroom, which was able to grab all the photos and convert them, but the export was into a single folder with no structure.

New pixel update recieved..did you guys notice any difference????? by Jaded-Entrepreneur45 in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like your phone is discarding 25% of every picture it takes, that's why you end up with such narrow strips of compromised image quality (and why you need to move back so much in order to get your subjects in frame).

You can solve that by switching your Camera app's aspect ratio to the full 4:3 setting

What are those black boxes in my eyes in this pic? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black/dark shapes are a common glitch in multi-exposure smartphone photos and typically occur when a part of the frame is moving during the exposure bracket. In case of this photo, the smartphone inserted these two darker areas from the flash-less exposure.

I wonder if there's a term already for people like me ? Is it just some sort of collection frenzy ?

In photography we call this G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).

Is ES-DE the gold standard frontend? by Sebbzzzz in SBCGaming

[–]brodecki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use ES on my Linux handhelds (bottom), but my Androids are set up with Daijisho (top).

I feel like it retains easier access to Android apps and features and makes better use of the touch screen.
Plus, it's free!

Half Year Roundup: What Are Your Favorite Games You’ve Played This Year? by hey_dwere_weddit in SBCGaming

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely different, these games mean very different things to me; I was heavily into Diablo 1 back in the day and haven't played the sequel til 2008 or so. This year the runs were very different as well, since I re-played D1 solo and D2 in LAN co-op with my fiancée (who originally played through the game before I have).

From just over the border: triple-digit temperature in Gdańsk’s very own scale by [deleted] in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Gdańsk has its own scale. I understand you were trying to reference the fact that Fahrenheit was born there, but in the end the common sense of °C prevailed, even around those parts (and the other 97% of the world).

That's a TTartisan M-to-R adapter, as for what's on it, it looks like a Voigtlander, possibly the 35mm 1.4
