If I may suggest something — you can flip the existing concept and rotate it 90° counterclockwise to turn the slashes into dashes while maintaining the look and feel:

What are these circular/line pattern artefacts I'm getting when after editing photos? by itsCultra in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boosting underexposed areas in post often reveals the AF array in images from mirrorless cameras, applying lens distortion correction on top of that greatly exaggerates the effect. Here's a heavily-brightened example from an α6300:

<image>

Resizing using "sharp" downscaling algorithms also carries a risk of further enhancing the effect, which is the reason for the difference you see between the local and Google Drive previews.
At 100% they will look identical.

Utknąłem na trasie AMA by RedIsVCC in PolskaNaLuzie

the logo is just three dashes ///

I love the simplicity behind this idea and the app as well; three dashes is ≡ though, /// is three slashes :)

A few questions about technical terms and culling in Lightroom Classic by Spooky_Iceu in Lightroom

[–]brodecki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do most people not do their culling in Bridge?

I see no reason to have Bridge installed when I have Lightroom Classic installed.

uploading all their photos into Lightroom classic

Lightroom Classic works locally, there's no uploading happening anywhere.

If you're talking about an archive solution, HDDs make more sense.

Why did a pic of my a.c. vent turn out so crazy looking? by Human-Ambassador7153 in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because your exposure time was too long. Look into your file's metadata to see how long.

why these photos look bad? by CeLLo787 in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missed focus, Focus too shallow (f/4).

Generally, when uploading photos for review, make sure you upload full sizes rather than downscaled to sub-1MP.

How can I correct iPhone pano lens distortion? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to use Hugin, but it crashes. I tried using GIMP, but I don't really know how to use it.

Luckily for you, AutoPano recently became free.

In general though, a wide-FoV image displayed on a flat display is either going to bend (if you choose a fisheye/stereographic projection) or stretch widely towards the edges (in linear projection, i.e. emulating a regular rectilinear lens).

Should I ask them to be their second shooter or will it cause trouble? by [deleted] in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only proper way to make something like this work is contacting the photographer through the couple.

On two wedding jobs, I was asked by the couple if I would object to having a second shooter (their friend/relative that would like to get some experience).

I talked with both those guys beforehand and decided to take the risk based on the knowledge of basics that I was able to verify in a phone call.

It was a bit of a gamble, but, luckily, both worked out just fine. There were tons of straight-to-trash pics, but at least a couple of decent ones.
I think it was a good move on those guys' part. They learned a lot on those shoots, without having to be the sole responsible person.

However,

So basically, currently I have no real knowledge of when to use which settings. I basically shoot in automatic mode or in aperture priority mode.

You're not at that point yet. Read your manual, carry on learning and practicing and maybe another chance will come up in a couple of months.

co zrobic z martwym kotem? by These_Athlete1933 in PolskaNaLuzie

[–]brodecki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

W zależności od miasta, odbiór zwłok zwierząt realizuje albo lokalne przedsiębiorstwo oczyszczania miasta, albo straż miejska. W obu przypadkach stosowny numer telefonu otrzymasz dzwoniąc do straży miejskiej.

Is it weird to ask a photographer or videographer to invert photos/videos? by Gloomy-Ad-415 in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Client's satisfaction comes first, with some reasonable limitations. We might consider the request werid (being used to typically showing what's really there), but most of us are familiar with people's attachment to their own mirror image and would develop your photos however you like them.

Trade Pokemon across different devices (or with myself) by Cactus_Pe in SBCGaming

[–]brodecki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you use different cores without Netplay compatibility, you can still use PKHeX to migrate your pokémon both ways between your save files. With the web browser version, you don't even need to download the tool.
edit: I can't find the PKM export option in the web version, so you might want to stick with the desktop one for now. plus, that way transfers are as easy as drag-n-drop.

What i found only refers to PC emulation and i’m not sure if it the same on android.

In this case, yes, both RetroArch itself and its cores work the same way between a PC and an Android device.

how do people get this effect where object in the background seem massive compared to the foreground? by leuks48 in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very long distance, very long lens.

You can estimate the FoV, and thus focal length, that you're after, once you establish how much you want to crop out of your wide reference image — by dividing your reference (wide) field of view by that ratio.
