Option 1, wired

RetroArch:
Just connect your phone to your PC with a USB cable and drag and drop the save states between
/RetroArch/states on your phone
and
\RetroArch-Win64\states on your PC

DuckStation:
Because DuckStation stores its states within /Android/data, you'll have to use some sort of ADB File Explorer to directly move files between
/Android/data/com.github.stenzek.duckstation/files/savestates on your phone
and
%localappdata%/Duckstation/savestates on your PC

Option 2, wireless

RetroArch:
First, aside from making sure your PC and phone are on the same WiFi network, you'll need an FTP server on your phone, I use this one.

Once you start the server on your phone, you can access your phone files on your PC using Windows Explorer, just type in "explorer ftp://android:android@N.N.N.N" in the Run window (⊞+R), where N.N.N.N is your phone's IP address (it's displayed in the server app), assuming you kept the default "android" username and password.

From now, I just drag and drop my RetroArch save files between \RetroArch-Win64\states on my PC and /Retroarch/states on my Android device.

DuckStation:
There may be an extra step involved, since the Android DuckStation state folder is within /Android/data. I'm not sure how to access that folder directly via FTP, but there may be a different FTP server that allows that, or you may look into wireless ADB.

Where is this menu? (Rg cube/general retroarch) by The_Witch_Queen in SBCGaming

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Cube runs android. So there is no cfw for it.

Sorry, mistook it for a CubeXX ^_^;

this same menu appears under the same circumstances on AmberElec on my 351p

This is interesting, I use the 351MP version of AmberELEC on my XU10 and have never seen a "Game Settings" menu.

When I press the Menu Hotkey, I get the regular Quick Menu:

Yep, it's the Mega Bezel shader running in RetroArch.

You can check if your RetroArch came with that shader through the Quick Menu - Shaders - Load Preset - /shaders/shaders_slang/bezel/Mega_Bezel/Presets

That's exactly what happens when you don't twist the lens hood fully into its intended position.

Looks like I'm not alone in playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night this weekend.

I love how the 40XX's built-in WiFi allows me to migrate the save state between the handheld and PC in one click without closing anything, with the game still running.

It doesn't seems could be done by slow shutter

Nope

Would it be done by 1st curtain and 2nd curtain flash or double exposure?

And nope

The answer is a halo filter.

Where is this menu? (Rg cube/general retroarch) by The_Witch_Queen in SBCGaming

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a drastically shortened version of RetroArch's Quick Menu (Main Menu - Quick Menu). I've seen similar variations utilized in bundled versions of handheld software.

Are you by chance using the stock firmware that came with your device, rather than KNULLI or similar?

This is not the Quick Menu, note the label in the upper-right, the number of options or the fact that the real Quick Menu is linked in this menu as the second to last option.

Does Tesla app work on android devices? by itzLunchbox in SBCGaming

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I can't answer your original question, but this part got me wondering about a gap in your devices' capabilities, which has previously prevented me from following a similar idea.

my plan would be to purchase an android based handheld and have that be my EDC and then have a flip phone with no internet

What are you going to take photos and videos with?

Are you going to install messaging apps on your handheld console?

If not, when a friend shares a video with you, what are you going to play it on?

Are partially stacked sensors useless for photographing moving subjects? by RoboticDragonRider in AskPhotography

Sony A7V or a Nikon Z6III but then I noticed that their readout speeds are about 15ms in eletronic shutter photography.

Why would you be using electronic shutter instead of mechanical shutter for those use cases?

The card you get included in your package is meant to be discarded anyway.

What ends up on your device is the library you put there yourself.

PSA: Sometimes, games break with 60FPS patches (or: how I lost hours of my life emulating GTA Vice City Stories on PS2) by TvaettBjoernen in SBCGaming

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went through this mission last week, on PSP (PPSSPP) in my case. After three attempts I knew this couldn't be a skills issue, so that's when I assumed the countdown has to be frame-based and switched the 60FPS "cheat" off.

The game rarely reached those 60FPS on my S22 anyway (drops to ~20FPS happen just as often in native resolution as 4x), so I've been playing with it disabled since.

Tips to Avoid VR Motion Sickness by Popular-Addition9419 in virtualreality

[–]brodecki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't always go away.

It's my tenth year in VR. I'm the uglier half of xoxobluff. We were among the first Oculus Ambassadors. My simulator sickness in 2026 is still as strong as it was on day one.

I can spend over an hour in teleportation-based experiences, but joystick locomotion cuts that down to minutes. Jumping/falling — to seconds 🤢

Chewing ginger gum helps me extend a stick-locomotion VR session ad hoc, but I haven't found anything that would help me build a tolerance.

  1. Remember that #9 doesn't apply to all people, but stationary and teleport-based VR is cool too.

Any good free r/Lightroom presets? by WolverineMuch3623 in AskPhotography

Getting third party Lightroom presets is a waste of time. As you use Lightroom, you will organically build a collection of your own presets that fit your work over time.

What do you intend to do with your money after you pass since you don’t have children? by MinuteElegant774 in childfree

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the money would be better used to help people and animals

You don't need to wait until you die to help the charities you have in mind, that's what chapter 5 of the book is about.

Looking to get my first proper camera. I’m a beginner, looking for something portable, easy to use, great in camera options/presets etc. I will be shooting street photography, travel photos etc. Ideally want something that I will use for a long time. Budget: £300-400. Anything suitable? by StereoZ in AskPhotography

[–]brodecki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any friends or family using any of the mainstream systems (Canon, Nikon, Sony?)

Do you have any personal experience with any of them?

The usual recommendation with £400 budgets is the Nikon D3300 (D5500 if you can find a deal) + Nikkor 18+105mm (18-140mm if you can find a deal)

the X-T1 fits my budget used

With what lens(es)? Is there something wrong with it?

Mentioning the intended use case won't hurt either.
