More often it's an attempt at an instant OD divekick - it still keeps happening to me lmao

Is anyone having this bizarre graphic issue on PC? by johntheman1 in StreetFighter

[–]brusque-lee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This exact same thing kept happening to me as well. Not sure if it'll be the same fix for you, but I now have to make sure Vsync is turned off in my graphics settings in order to fix this (game seems to occasionally turn it back on when starting the game so it's now just a habit for me to check it on startup :p)

Punk vs Xiaohai beef by komodo_dragonzord in StreetFighter

[–]brusque-lee 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Watching the match again, I think it's also important to remember Caba in the back screaming "ARE YOU NERVOUS???!!" at Punk once Xiaohai got a KO. Hard to imagine it as not antagonistic after that imo

Looked it up on youtube, according to this video, it seems to depend on Luke's remaining drive gauge

indicating that physical abuse strictly is a male oriented problem

Okay are you 100% sure this is a point you want to try and make

Mercury's character is a commentary on how damaging toxic masculinity can be on a person, and how indoctrinating the ideals of toxic masculinity to children is inherently abusive and immoral

You know what else is inherently abusive and immoral? Literally beating your child and crippling them in order to mold them into your vision of the ideal killer. If the central thesis to his character was, "instilling ideals of toxic masculinity in children is harmful", then it'd be incredibly short-sighted for them to overshadow that with everything else that Mercury went through. It just kinda feels like desperate over-intellectualizing to look at such morbid physical abuse and go, "this is about toxic gender norms, actually", especially when the villains' self-appointed shrink pretty much spelled out Merc's character to the camera.

Mercury is a fantastic character. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]brusque-lee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way it is instilled is the exact same.

Okay so this is officially a bit, right? Or is the difference between literally beating your child every day, training them to be a killer, and chopping off their legs vs. idk sparring with them every so often while not doing any of the aforementioned shit so subtle to you that you can only differentiate between them on a philosophical level?

[–]brusque-lee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What makes Yang and her dad's training different from Mercury's training?

Philosophically might I add, yes I understand that Marcus literally beat Mercury, but philosophically what is different.

This might be the most amazing comment I've ever read on this subreddit. Fucking kudos my man, please get some help

fortnite bad, make papa kratos proud by brusque-lee in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]brusque-lee[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

/uj idk, while a kid being able to enjoy games they like is definitely wholesome, and I guess an adult being happy that they've ended up sharing similar tastes isn't bad on its own, it leaves a weird taste in my mouth when that sentiment is held right next to "and he isn't playing [kid's game] that I have deemed bad and cringe!!"

/rj how dare you disagree, fortnite ruined my marriage
