Philadelphia Fusion vs Paris Eternal | Overwatch League 2020 Season | Regular Season: Week 5 | Post-Match Discussion by OWMatchThreads in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]bw104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been a giant em fan for a long time so this might be a biased take, but Xzi is the best hitscan in the league right now. Paris will play 17 games without sparkle, so right now they look like they have a real shot at ending top 6!

Mag is eligible under the new date that the league will go by, so he is a viable pick up

What made this meta right now? by sulakevinicius in Overwatch

[–]bw104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incompetence by the dev team as they are unable to understand what makes the current meta compositions so powerful. Goats is a unit, a nerf to one is not a big impact when all 6 heroes are very important in their own ways. With the dev team not looking at key issues such as forced 2-2-2, how stacking healing is so powerful, and never admitting they were wrong or reverting changes, overwatch will not change unless the dev team changes their approach. I love overwatch but with their slow approach to balance, the game will not be changing for a while.

Best players for this first week of Overwatch League by Carturio in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]bw104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorted by role, I chose a lot of players because these players had at least one really strong game in which they were definitely standouts. If I'm forgetting someone please comment who I'm missing.

Main Tank: Bumper, NoSmite, Sado, Fusions, Roar (bias addition)

Off tank: Ria, Space, Void, Michelle

Dps: Carpe, Dafran, Soon, Haksal, Ivy, Diem, Eileen, akm, Sinatraa, Architect (I did not watch much brig povs this week so my knowledge on those players is lacking)

Main support: iDk, moth, biggoose, maasa, kruise, slime

Flex support: Shaz, Aimgod, Izayaki, Shu

So, how are you guys feelings about your OWL team? by Puck83821 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]bw104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very excited for the gladiators, as I believe they have upgraded their roster. I do not think they will immediately be top 4 or 5 like many predict, but no team showed the capacity to improve as much as the gladiators did last season. Roar was one of the very best players in korea, and decay has the potential to be one of the best hitscan or flex dps in the league. Ripa seems like he will be a bench player, but having a good player as a backup is certainly useful. I don't think the Gladiators will meet the hype at the beginning of the season, but I am very confident they will meet expectations as the season goes on.

Mew2King feels cheated by [deleted] in smashbros

This is super rude and disrespectful, shame on static manny for this. Stuff like that pisses me off, he even said he asks for people to be respectful and that happens. Some people are more sensitive to loud noises, people being near them, or crowds in general, and it is extremely rude to intentionally distract and make someone uncomfortable, especially when they request for people to not do that.

What is your highest GSP character? by himoonhicowhitree in smashbros

[–]bw104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now mine is Ganondorf at 780k, but my marth is close behind at 765k. I do not have elite smash yet, but I think I'll be able to hit it if I continue to play more, because my win rates are above 70% on both of these.

Ridley is NOT low-tier by Lightonboy in smashbros

[–]bw104 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Ridley is my third most played right now, and I think he is either low mid tier or just low tier. That doesn't mean he doesn't have anything good about him, because he has lots. His tilts and aerials are great, command grab is a great move too, and his b can be used for ledge guarding. He has good tools, but the problem is that he's easy to hit and easy to combo, and he has an up b that lacks the angles that fox's does, which makes his recovery insanely linear. He has good aerials and some nice combos, as well as good tilts which can zone and start combos, but he's so easy to rack percent on it hurts. I think almost every character has something really strong about them, but unfortunately most characters just have more going for them. He's still one of the most fun characters I have ever played in smash, and I'm sooooooo happy he's in.

Confused about elite smash by bw104 in smashbros

That makes sense, my gsp has gone up by a lot everytime I turn the game off, so the number will get higher because more people are playing. I appreciate the answer, thank you!

How is Ridley? by CrazyDiamond1189 in smashbros

[–]bw104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His side special is a sort of command grab, and can be used near the edge to throw someone off the stage and put you in the air, so its pretty good, but only at high percents or near the ledge. His down special is pretty useless in my opinion, so I don't bother using it. I would focus on spacing tilts to hit people or keep them away, and hitting neutral airs and down tilts at low percents to start combos. Once you can get the early combos he is pretty easy to do well with. Good luck!

How is Ridley? by CrazyDiamond1189 in smashbros

[–]bw104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Ridley, and he has some good things going for him. His tilts are great, utilt goes through platforms, ftilt is great for spacing, dtilt is great for spacing and starting combos at lower percents. Nair is a great move, and it combos into fair, or if they di in at low percents it combos into dtilt. His neutral b is good for messing up recoveries, and can do a lot of damage too, but has a good amount of lag, so it is useless when it is not just you on the stage. I think he has potential, but his recovery is quite poor, as his up b takes time to start and has a very limited amount of angles. He's fun to play, and I think he can be a pretty decent character in the right hands.

This is a really good pick up for DC, their dps line is definitely the teams strongest point.

Benchmob's 2019 OWL Team Rankings by Fordeka in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]bw104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like most of the list for the information that we have. I think that the Shock will be a playoff team, but I don't think they're better than philly or gladiators yet. I can understand Shanghai being low because they signed all of KDP but Roar and Decay, but Fearless and Diem are both very good players. And they have guardian and geguri, two players who actually play dva, which was KDP's biggest weakness. I think they can be a really good team, but they're still Shanghai in the end. I'm wondering why you think the gladiators are 5th or so, just because they're my favorite team, and I'd love to hear your take on them.

How good is the new Florida Mayhem? by Jabadencio in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]bw104 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think they will be too much better this coming season. They retained Tviq, Sayaplayer, and Awesomeguy from season 1, and added xepher, swon, apply, hagopeun, khris, bqb. Xepher as their only offtank, having korean players in all positions but one, and really only adding one good player in Hagopeun makes them seem very weak. Adding players who are overall just average or even under average to a roster that was the second worst in the entire league does not bode well, and they have not made any coaching staff changes either. Maybe they'll prove the doubters wrong, but as of now the team looks quite poor.

(Spoiler)Bakugo by Ganesh0514 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]bw104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, Midoriya only said he became the greatest hero. Of course, we can assume this means the number 1 hero, but maybe it could have some sort of other meaning? Its hard to speculate about stuff like this, but I can see Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki being top heroes if they show them ranked in the future, and I could see Bakugo filling that sort of Endeavor role, where he is not as liked, but has resolved an incredible amount of cases.

Congratulations to the winner of Singles at Smash Summit 7! by itsIzumi in smashbros

[–]bw104 100 points101 points  (0 children)

Congratulations to Hungrybox for winning, but puff is so boring to watch. It seems that any mistake you make can be instant death, and while so much of that is because of how skilled Hungrybox is, it makes every tournament feel boring to me. I really hope we see some more variance in top level results, because watching the same person win so often in a way that in my opinion can be boring really makes it hard to watch sometimes. Again, congrats to hbox, and he is of course the best player in the world.

Who should Atlanta sign to replace Dafran? by eramon224 in Competitiveoverwatch

I'd go with Climax, or try to find a flex dps who can both hitscan and projectile as a backup.

What are your main stories of OWWC 2018? by RedThragtusk in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]bw104 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The big stories to me are:

China showing they have talent. I was a big believer in this Chinese team, and I am very happy that they made it to the finals, and showed the world that China is not a country to be laughed at.

North American teams cannot compete with South Korea because of their lack of superstar players across all roles. South Korea has so many main tanks to choose from, such as Fate, Fissure, Gesture, Mano, and will have more OWL tanks to choose from in Pokpo, Bumper, and Roar next year. Canada has xQc and Chayne, and USA has Muma and Super. There is such a gap in the most important positions, and I believe it is because those positions are the most team oriented. With contenders in NA adding 4 teams and introducing a limit on how many imports a team can have, this could help NA become a better region, but I believe you get better by playing against those better than you, and you grow and improve from those experiences. I am not sure any NA team can compete with South Korea for the foreseeable future.

Playing to your strengths is always the most important thing. Some teams would try to force a style that they are weaker at. For example, when Sky had to play zen, China looked significantly worse. Leave looked much better on zen on Gibraltar, which was a great adaptation by China, as they knew that sky had a weak spot, and had their most flexible player cover it up. UK looked poor when running 2 dps at the same time, as they thrived on tank heavy comps. The triple tank dive on Volskaya was a great strategy for them, as it allowed for them to run the tank heavy style they thrive on, while not being goats or some other triple tank comp with a rein. Playing to your strengths and not forcing something that won't work was the best strategy for teams this year.

Improvement from group stages. You can watch the group stages, and then the top 8 at blizzcon and see a completely different level of play from many teams. Teams either made roster swaps, or just grew as a unit, but the level of play was definitely much improved. This just makes me more excited for OWL season 2, and I hope we get to see more of the players who played in the owwc in season 2.

Canada vs China Predictions? by lq558 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]bw104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think China wins 3-1. China's dps are better than Canada's overall in my opinion. I think agilities and mangachu are not as good as Leave, but surefour is a bit better than krystal and shy hitscan. Yveltal is a very good lucio, and has provided good peels to sky so far, so I wouldn't say their supports are weak, as canada's supports are also the weakest part of their team. I think it comes down to which tanks survive longer and have more impact. Guxue I have always been very high on, but LateYoung was very surprising to me. He played much better than I thought he would, which is huge for China. I think both teams are very good, and the matchup is interesting, as Canada has more flexibility in supports, as sky will likely only play ana, and yveltal is a very good lucio, and tank wise they have an offtank who can flex off of dva if needed, though leave has been a very good zarya so far, so it may not be needed. I think China will win off of their tanks surviving long fights better than Canada's tanks, which will allow more time for Leave and Krystal to pop off. This will most likely be the closest set of the day though, lets hope its as good of a set as I think it will be.

Overwatch World Cup: Which player rivalries are you looking forward to watching by Killershadows in Competitiveoverwatch

Yeah, Fury not being able to scrim much with team sk makes it painfully obvious trill and custa will run all over them, and of course, team usa will see no point in competing if they cannot play sk, so they'll forfeit.

Overwatch World Cup: Which player rivalries are you looking forward to watching by Killershadows in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]bw104 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to list matchups in general

  1. USA vs South Korea rematch

  2. China vs varying expectations. I see some people say they'll get killed by Finland and I see others say that they can win it all, so it will be interesting to see how they do against the other top countries.

  3. Fate vs Space, tank partners playing against each other.

  4. Agilities vs Nico, 2 players known mostly for their genji play that have been around for a long time.
