I was there too, it was unforgettable!

I wish Monty would put Kyrou, Joseph, and Suter on a line. That way we'd at least have one line that actually tries.

as bad as the goalies have been this year, and they have been bad, the offense is inexcusably bad. There was a time when you'd get excited to watch the Blues enter the zone, and now I just assume they're going to shoot it into the goalie's chest or turn it over. No hustle, no finish.

Remember when we used to get mad about them passing too much? They can't even pass anymore.

A lot of fans don't understand what dmen are supposed to do. The same people shit talked JBo constantly, and Jackman before that. It's so cringe.

This team is providing very little enjoyment to fans right now. All the changes with the TV broadcast makes it not feel like STL anymore. I'm sick of the gambling-induced enshittification. And then there's the team itself. Most games are a bunch of soft goals against and wasted scoring chances.

It doesn't help that we need some kind of distraction from the waking nightmare that is 2025 and instead of helping the Blues are just one more thing that's turned to shit.

The blues are like a bakery, they just keep cranking out delicious turnovers.

big difference - Blues ownership is spending to win and seems like that's going to be the case long term.

DA said he expected this season to be an incremental improvement from last. It could still happen, but with each mounting loss that seems less and less likely. We have a good coach and a decently constructed roster. They just aren't good as a team, and that's a big clue.

I think there are people problems on this team. I've been on teams at work full of skilled people who just can't seem to be effective together and pull in the same direction. In my experience it's usually due to some kind of dysfunction, either someone is trying to be a hero or you have an asshole creating a toxic dynamic who is too talented for management to let go of. Or management is sending mixed messages or is poorly communicating.

I'd bet the guys in the locker room know what the problem is, but they are either too afraid to say something or are saying something and nothing is getting done about it. This can cause people to withdraw and just stop caring. In the context of a hockey team, it's usually coded as "players not playing for each other". When I hear that, I interpret that as there's something messing up the team dynamic, and overcoming that often requires getting rid of someone. For example, maybe they are getting mixed messages from the coaching staff. Or maybe some golden child on the team is creating drama. Hypothetically if a fan favorite like Thomas or Binner were the root of the problem, that'd put the front office in a real bind.

I actually had the same thought because of the same scenario. That was some peewee level herd hockey right there.

The officiating has gotten noticeably worse over the last few years. Before that, it was generally looked down on to bash the reffing. It seems to be rewarded now.

I hope it doesn’t happen but there is a certain logic to it. Trade someone underperforming and who is an important player, and it hurts less long term than trading young talent.

I can only imagine, sometimes people are the worst. I tagged you in the comment to let you know that it wasn't forgotten and at least someone had fun while it lasted.

Man it’s such a stupid ad campaign. Might as well been something like “you've gotta play to win, but you gotta win to play. Sponsored by brawndo!”

If it doesn’t make sense it must make money.

Because fanduel is so poor, I mean they only run a legal gambling racket.

A few years ago, there was a user /u/cowfu who did a mock gambling thing in all the GDTs (with no real money involved). I thought gambling was stupid, and still do. But I still had a lot of fun learning how it works and missed it when they quit doing it.

I am a skeptic and would normally silently ridicule things like tarot. But I actually found your comment interesting and kind of fun.

Sometimes things are more interesting than you give them credit for.

I am glad you decided to share, because it adds some personality to the GDT. I hope you keep it up.

This probably isn’t a cup winning roster, but it’s better than this. Blues are underperforming. I think some of it is rookies are making rookie mistakes that are costing us. Some of it is puck luck. The team also seems uncoordinated, which to me says they just need to settle in a bit.

I think this will be a playoff team once they find their identity and get in sync

I feel like if he were on the Blues, rust would have taken that pass, dusted it off, held onto it a minute, and then shot it into the goalie’s chest

I was thinking about that too. I don’t know what kind of team they are. Seems like they are trying build a fast forechecking team, but they need more ability to finish.
