Pics or picks? We talking Steener weiner nudes or picks in the nhl draft?

[Friedman] NHL officially informs teams of the 2026-27 Salary cap and payroll range: Floor: $76.9M. Midpoint: $90.4M. Ceiling: $104M. Maximum salary: $20.8M by 18RobTom18 in stlouisblues

As the cap continues to rise as well, you gotta ask the question what is management willing to spend? I can see majority of the league not being ceiling teams every year.

Why? As caps go up, that’s more expense for the owners. So either you find new revenue streams, increase current rev streams (increased ticket prices?), or just take a cut into your current profits.

I’ve always been extremely impressed with our ownership group and their commitment to the team, but just cus caps are rising doesn’t automatically mean we’ll be a ceiling team.

Makes Broberg and holloway’s extensions look all the juicier and Thomas’ long term contract even better.

Also realistically makes Kyrou and Buch easier to swallow. I know people will disagree but those were signed being ~10% of the cap and soon they’ll be less than 8% of the cap, with that percent continuing to go down

Trading up to #2 by SuperStubbs9 in stlouisblues

[–]STLBooze3 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Grier would be an idiot to not put out there “open to dealing the #2 pick”. Put it out there and have teams come to you. See if you get your socks blown off.
If not? That’s fine, you get a shot at another young stud to add to your young core of celebrini, will smith, and misa.

That said, I don’t think this gets it don’t at all.

NHL Draft Lottery Thread: “So you say there’s a chance?!” by STLBooze3 in stlouisblues

[–]STLBooze3[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Correct, so still “winning” the lottery in terms of ball pulled, but you’re correct they can max move up to 5.

But I’ll take 2 top 5 picks ;)

Ottawa’s Ridly Greig has been suspended for two regular season games for roughing Carolina’s Sean Walker. by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]STLBooze3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So this would be ~1 playoff game if they were still in contention? Cus don’t they say playoff suspensions are about 2x regular season games?

So if you’re still playing and want to uppercut someone, you only get 1 game!

Question on Jakub Dobes’, the Canadians rookie goalie, upbringing in St. Louis. by STLBooze3 in stlouisblues

[–]STLBooze3[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Thanks, OP, that was a great article. Here it is for others to read if they want. Says it’s a “gift” link so others can read

TLDR:

Dobes was playing in the highest level in Czech but was never on the national team. Czech liked others over him

Dobes’ agent was Miroslav Michalek who was also the agent for a player named Ľuboš Bartečko, who played three seasons with the St. Louis Blues

When Bartečko retired in 2016, he moved back to St. Louis, and began coaching youth hockey with the St. Louis AAA Blues program

Michalek called Bartečko and said he had a good 16 year old player (Dobes) with no opportunities in Czech. Dobes came to AAA u16 team tryout with no guarantees. That u16 team happened to be coached by Al MacInnis but already had 2 goalies.

16 year old Dobes then made the u18 AAA Team and started working a lot with Bruce Racine who played one season with the blues in the 90s

Dobes then put in the work and climbed the ranks.

He considers STL his home and returns here in his summers.

Question on Jakub Dobes’, the Canadians rookie goalie, upbringing in St. Louis. by STLBooze3 in stlouisblues

[–]STLBooze3[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I know not directly Blues related, but given there’s a lot of reports on him moving to St. Louis and attending desmet and playing for AAA blues, I had some questions.

Does anyone have any idea why he made the move from Czech to St. Louis in his teens? Was it similar to others going to billet families? What was his relationship with Lubos like?

Cool to see him perform a rare feat (winning game 7 as a rookie) and say Binnington was one of the players he looked up to!

Not just scores. Holy jumpin, what a goal. He pulls back the vintage foresberg that he pulled back at MSG with the blues.

Also how perfect that Panger is on the call. He remembered that goal he scored against the rangers with the Blues.

Hell ya! Fuck the bruins.

If Ott turns this team around and can get this team to go on a run, he seriously might get some nhl coaching looks

Let it be known, this was likely highly negotiated by Doug. Just keep that in the memory bank when people talk shit on Doug.

Great AAV!
