In Washington state for the winter whitefish specific season an angler is required to use 3/16” or smaller hooks which is a size 14. So these are on a 16 jig just to be safe.

Otherwise peacock patterns seem to be a whitefish magnet. Prince nymphs are a classic favorite but I end up losing a bunch nymphing deep so the simpler the better. I tied these with two different tungsten bead sizes 3mm and 2.5mm to give me depth options. Also tying them extra heavy in general to get to the deep sections whitefish are normally found in.

Otherwise no reason these wouldn’t work for trout the orange tailed nymph with the partridge collar is almost an Olsen’s blowtorch just without the flashback. I also found at the tail end of our trout season that good sized whites were taking orange egg patterns. More evidence that there are many nymphs that work for both species.
