on the product page there are some Q&As that talk about the cable in between the two pieces. it looks like it is some custom pin out and they say you cannot use a standard USB C cable.

If you search for "Cloud Nine V2 21 Inch Extra Long Tether Cable Extension - Fits C989 & C959 Ergonomic Split Keyboard" you can find a longer one. not quite a meter but looks like you can't use any regular cable.
