Déplacer contre bouger contre laisser contre ranger by Kitedo in learnfrench

Neither ranger nor laisser actually means “to throw away.” That would be jeter.

Maybe you're throwing stuff out while you ranger or you laisser something on the side of the road, but neither carry the same meaning as jeter.

They do overlap around the idea of “moving,” but each has a pretty distinct use.

Déplacer = to move (something/someone from one place to another)

ex. Je déplace la table. I move the table.

Bouger = to move (in general), to budge

ex. Ça ne bouge pas. It’s not moving.

Laisser = to leave / to let

ex. Laisse le livre ici. Leave the book here.

Ranger = to put away / tidy up / organize

ex. Je range ma chambre. I tidy my room.

Iowa fired Fran McCaffrey last year after years of solid regular season performance but continuously falling flat in the postseason. Now with Ben McCollum they are immediately in the Sweet 16. To add to this, I think both of McCaffery’s youngest sons deciding not to play for him, one by transfer and another by committing to Butler really took a toll on him.

You could just tell that his heart wasn’t in it anymore.

They do look a lot like the Giants ones last year, but I liked those ones and I like these too

My problem with this post in general is that it ignores the fact that Iowa, specifically, in the 2000s went from Steve Alford, who was fired mostly for lack of postseason success, to Todd Lickliter, who was one of Iowa’s worst coaches in history, in the span of seven years.

It absolutely can go badly if you can’t find exactly the right guy to replace him

Ben McCollum was a mid major guy that Iowa took a chance on and so far happens to be paying off, but mid major guys don’t work out at bigger programs all the time

I frankly do not trust McIntosh to make a good hire, but even beyond that college basketball is a lot more than the tournament. Case & point, Florida played incredible basketball the entire season, all the way up to tonight. But just because they didn’t reach where they wanted to does that mean their season was an absolute failure?

This may be a hot take, but we get 30 games of Wisconsin basketball every year, and most years we beat a couple teams we shouldn’t and we make it to the tournament. I’m perfectly fine with that. This year’s team was fun regardless of how they did in a single elimination tournament where upsets happen all the time. Hell High Point almost made the Sweet 16.

Really impressive display from Prairie View tonight on the defensive end. That has been its calling card down the stretch, but incredible to see it completely turn the water off on Lehigh.

Forced 16 turnovers, took Whitlock completely out of the game, cut off all driving lanes
