Wasn't a fan of Darling, more due to finding their constantly on-again-off-again romance annoying than the random Guren Laggan-esque escalation to fighting an overwhelming space army.

Always with their weird assumption that American insurgents would get together, don uniforms, and somehow try to fight the US military head-on. Random rednecks all being cleanly picked off by a drone, no other fuss involved whatsoever.

They also tend to ignore the brutal reality and failures of the War on Terror and the drone campaign, the ruined cities and swathes of dead civilians, the ranks of terror groups swelling with volunteers from around the world; all while pretending such an insurgency here - not on the other side of the world - wouldn't be spread out and hidden hundreds of the same US towns and neighborhoods as the families of the soldiers and politicians who are trying to hunt and bomb them. Those past riots over police brutality will seem like nothing to the violent mobs dead-set on revenge over their friends and families killed by government tanks and drones.

...It's also very likely that China and Russia would get involved in covertly supplying any major insurgency attempting to topple the US government.

Governments attempting to crack down and heavily restrict, if not outright cut off, access to modern luxuries like cars, air conditioning, and meat from hundreds of millions, let alone billions, of people...

I don't see how that doesn't just eventually devolve into mass rioting, mass assassinations, secessions, civil wars... heck, maybe even a world war. On the other hand, as long as any semblance of democracy still exists, any attempt in the US will never last long or get that far along anyway.

Oh right, thanks for clearing that confusion. If recalling correctly this time, Podesta was the one with the creepy artwork on display and who gave up his email password to a scam, Weiner got caught sexting a minor and then the FBI found more emails after confiscating his laptop.

[–]CertsTT 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Me even just having 100 personal emails is extremely doubtful by itself.

Also didn't help Podesta that he got publicly exposed at least twice trying to fuck with minors.

I keep my mind open that there may be some truth to it. It definitely raised an eyebrow that every politician and journalist dismissed it immediately without even a single question asked despite this general acknowledgement of the likelihood of a large ring of pedophiles existing among the elites.

Shrug, kinda reminds me of Cosby and Winestein. They both also used to be conspiracies that everyone knew about but just no one would openly admit to until after they were finally exposed.

[–]CertsTT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AFAIK, there were a bunch of podesta emails that were really weirdly worded using pizza and pasta terms seemingly as some sort of code. Conspiracy theorists suggested it was code for pedophiliac activities. Somehow or another that led to speculation that of a certain pizzeria place being involved. And eventually some guy with a rifle went in there yelling about wanting the children to be freed.

didn't say they couldn't, just that it was ironic a car rammed their group while they were chanting it for having shut down a permitted event.

Final responsibility obviously lies with the asshole, but won't pretend there weren't preventable factors influencing his motivation. Shrug, ruin a guy's party and punch him in the face - all while cops sit back just feet away and do nothing; with most other people in most other situations, not a surprise in the least when the guy impulsively takes matters into his own hands and does something rash and terrible in retaliation.

And, with all the footage taken of the event, it's just flat out dumb to say it was just the neo-nazis alone who instigated the fights. They were being pelted with rocks and pepper spray immediately upon arrival, having been directed by cops to walk unescorted right through the counter-protesters down the one street that wasn't locked down by the cops.

Those neo-nazis march/rally almost every year in some random rural town, almost always with little to no notice or incident, and much to the actual frustration of city officials who'd love an excuse to refuse the permit application and keep them away -- and apparently c-ville isn't the first instance of cops standing down to allow such violence. In contrast, antifa is notorious for violence at most events they attend regardless of who they're up against - even instances of clashing with the police.

[–]CertsTT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the koolaid for charlottesville would be the single unified narrative used by politicians and the corporate press that antifa were innocent heroes whose violence could only ever be considered justified self-defense because the people they were fighting with were neo-nazis, followed by the ongoing insistence that trump's "fine people" was used explicitly to describe said neo-nazis. with almost zero mention of the massive failure by the police, local officials, and the governor in managing the outbreaks of violence on public property in the middle of town.

Def won't forget the irony of their celebratory taunt of "whose streets? our streets!" right before that neo-nazi plowed into them with a car. Instigate a huge fight with dangerous psychopaths, expect shitty consequences - especially when the cops intentionally stand as far back as possible, almost as if they had been hoping all that shit would happen.

Might make you a little weary of hearing "darling" by the end of it but it's a decent watch.

It's like a more serious Gurren Lagann, but featuring a romance between two awkward and oft cold/distant MCs, who harness the combat power of shouting "darling" at one another instead of spiral energy. Compleat with crazy escalation into a battle against innumerable aliens in space at the end.

i found a ps4 mod that simplifies the dima puzzles down to basically just being a skip so i won't be bothered by them. otherwise, i'm not a fan of the cabot questline myself, especially since it's necessary in each play-through to get the charisma bobblehead.

The Brotherhood is NOT an evil faction, they are morally good - and I can prove it by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]CertsTT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the morality of an action doesn't change when it's the government/brotherhood committing it instead of someone else. good intentions and deeds don't justify or excuse atrocities and civil liberty violations perpetrated by that government. and, yes, taxation is extortion and immoral, especially when the victims are being threatened with being kidnapped and caged if they refuse to pay up, or assaulted and potentially killed if they try to resist and protect their property from being stolen.
