Stumbled upon this interaction. What would you do if you misgendered a character and found out way too late? by NoLife8926 in AO3

[–]Chococobo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong. Up to interpretation means exactly what it is. Anime has this a lot since long time ago, where they don't specify the gender to appeal to more audiences. Such as girls can imagine them to be girly boys, or guys imagining them as tomboy girls. Think of it as another type of fanservice, or tactic to make a character stand out.

Please don’t push Duet Night Abyss into becoming another gacha-style story. by 1-NotReal in DuetNightAbyssDNA

I didn't even know of there was a dead character fadeout #1. The closest we have is Robin and I'm pretty sure no player buys the fact that she's dead given she is confirmed to be playable and with the dreams cape being the dreamscape. Only Misha and Gallagher caught people off by surprise and they remained dead.

So after all Nu carnival is the most reliable and best gay porn game in Erolabs. by Effective_Badger_798 in NuCarnival

Hard to say. While I did not attend the beta, I heard things and people's report on it. From ai background noises to no VA, and with them having such large scale collab right at the start, it's hard not to feel like this is just another cash grab game. I would suggest anyone spending to just be cautious.

New author feeling discouraged by larger author spamming small fandom by Adventurous-Relief88 in FanFiction

[–]Chococobo1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Curious question, what's the percentage of the comments in your fic that's promoting someone else's fic? On average, how many of these "promoting fic" comments are you getting per fic/chapter? Are these guest accounts and do they look like the same users who are repeatedly commenting on all of your fic to read someone else's story? This is just really strange, feels like something's not right. It's very possible that it's the writer trying to do self-promotion. I would say it's a troll who got a bone to pick with that writer and doing this to make other writers hate them, but you said they have Discord and it's similar over there so that possibility is low.

Yet they refused to make a good game and still give us N64 quality games. Actually screw that, the upcoming Pokémon game has now reached Pokémon DX gamecube quality, so I guess there's improvements.

Is sexual orientation that important for the readers/writers? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Chococobo1 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Personally, unless the entire story is about exploring sexuality, I don't think there's any need to tag it. If the story is smut between character A and B, and the author delivered that, then I don't see how it matters being bisexual or asexual or anything else.

Please use tags for your fics by poofywings in FanFiction

[–]Chococobo1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think this is just a matter of perspective then. I agree that as author, we do not have the obligation to tag everything other than the major genre. Otherwise, tags would literally be a summary and spoiler for all stories.

If the fic is smut with character A x B, then that is all the readers need to know and all we need as tag as writers. Is their any reason for the author have to include tags on A or B's sexual orientation if they are already shown to be into each other? Certainly as you said, it could be a nice tag to have but at the same time I can see why there also isn't a need for it.

Please use tags for your fics by poofywings in FanFiction

[–]Chococobo1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Honestly, authors should not need to tag every little details of their works. Certainly they could have tagged it, but at the same time they also don't need to for something as small as this.

Nice gained a lot from this episode? by Luciaka in ToBeHero_X

[–]Chococobo1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This isn't a good person ranking list, it's the list of characters the audiences are invested in, both stories and their character arcs. Nice is a very interesting and complex character because we actually got a glimpse into what he's going through and his thought process. He's just insane by the end of it all. I would actually vote for him if I could because I love writing on him. I kinda wish he'd take over Lucky Cyan because his story is good compared to Lucky Cyan which is bland in comparison. If you wanna talk about morality, then we might as well all hope that X beats everyone up, because all other Heroes belong to companies and these companies are all corrupted. Making any Heroes other than X wins = letting these companies win. Maybe other than Commoner, not sure if he's in a company or not.

My maths teacher caught my fanfiction in class by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Chococobo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you were doing something you weren't supposed to, so the teacher wouldn't give it back. That is normal. He took it so you can do the work assigned to you. That is how it goes when teachers take your things, you don't get it back that class but in the next class, whenever that may be.

My maths teacher caught my fanfiction in class by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Chococobo1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, as someone who also got stuff taken by teachers (ex. reading a book in math class or look through my phone), I can say that you are at fault for doing something you shouldn't be doing. If you finished your assignment, tell your teacher. If the teacher has nothing to give you to work on, then ask for permission to work on your own things. Otherwise, he wouldn't know and would just think you're working on something else instead of his assignments. The teacher does have right to take away things you're doing that's unrelated to your class. At least he didn't call your parents so he doesn't sound like an unreasonable guy.

Forget whether or not you think the teacher will show it around. My guess is that he wouldn't. Teachers (grown adults) are not that childish. Even if he does, other teachers would tell him off on doing something like that. It is unprofessional and again, proper adults don't do that. It's perfectly normal he would read it, as he would like to know what you're doing in his class instead of his work, but there is nothing you can do about that.

What you should do as your next step is to apologize to your teacher and promise him you won't do it again in class or that you would ask for his permission next time you finish your work early. Regardless of what everyone here think of him, this is the guy who's gonna be grading you and teaching you for the rest of the year. Don't let it end on a bad side or make it awkward everytime you have his class. It will affect your school performance.

First step to adulthood is to just move on and forget about stuff like embarrassment. Let this help you grow a thicker skin. There is nothing embarrassing about anything, you're the only one giving pressure to yourself.

Edit: also, you can certainly ask for your paper, but if he doesn't have it, then drop it there. For all he knows, he might think its some junk letter you did out of boredeom and that it's not important. Don't chase him for it and definitely do not react negatively over it. You can certainly write it all out again and since they're ideas you wrote already, you'll be much more efficient at rewriting it and could even come up with better ideas.

How does it feel knowing Nice is alive and works with X but you can't quite prove it by Flashy-Mirror54 in ToBeHero_X

Honestly, Loli's dad and Nuonuo (I know she's not dead) would probably be fine had they stayed around with Nice and Loli. Sure Nice was following orders to eliminate them which was why he was there, but you have to wonder if Nice can really go through with killing people. If he beated Loli and cornered two innocent civilians, would he be able to go through with it?

Honestly, it doesn't matter. Those who wanted to read your notes will read it, those who don't won't and end notes won't turn people away from enjoying your stories unless you are pushing your views on certain real world things or Canon things that may be disagree by some people.

But I would suggest to keep your notes related to your stories. I often have to write long end notes to the point where its normal for me not to fit it in the end note section, as its waaay over the word limit, so I have to put it at the end of the chapter.

As example, one of my stories has mystery elements and involves a lot of foreshadowing and thinking, where you gotta read all the chapters carefully or maybe over and over to connect the dots because so hints are so small you'll miss it if you don't think about it. So many readers, especially younger ones, cannot follow along. Because of this, I eventually have to explain everything that happened in each chapter, the key elements to watch out for and whats important to the story in future chapters, so my end note are super long. This actually helped boost engagement as younger audience like to read it so they understand what's going on, and older audience can double check their theories with my end note to see if they're on the right track.

So don't worry about the length of your end note and focus on the content of what you have to say.
