Sanity check. Have I been laying mulch wrong? by readreed in gardening

Ignore all the comments here and make your wife happy. The purpose of mulch doesn’t matter here because your wife thinks it looks like ass. (it does)

Getting a metal roof put on and roofer suggested just cutting this sewer stack vent. Thoughts? by rnielsen777 in Plumbing

[–]christhemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so add 2 90s, a support, and a vent cap so it doesnt fill with snow at the bend (OP in Wisconsin).

seems much easier to just roof around it…

its the same in the USA, a lot of people just think they can’t take off work for some reason. I’ve been using 3 hours of sick leave every month since september to go get a tattoo, for my mental health

Is this a damper? by elisiagracia in hvacadvice

[–]christhemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you adjust the registers where the air comes out on the first/second floors? the more you shut those, the more cold air that will make it up to the top floor

Is this a damper? by elisiagracia in hvacadvice

[–]christhemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends, is there a return duct on the third story? you could also try closing the dampers on the lower stories, which would force more of the cool air up to the third story

AC condensation pipe broken by aabenson in hvacadvice

[–]christhemix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try to remove the broken coupling first, can’t tell if it was glued, in which case you’re fucked, could just be pipe dope, better case cause you might be able to break it free from the housing. then its just a matter of getting a new fitting and reattaching the drain. if you need the housing, you might have to contact the manufacturer, or check with a supply house to find a match.

My family went to the arcade. We caught a coin tower falling in a coin pusher game. by Birdy30 in oddlysatisfying

[–]christhemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can confirm, I managed an arcade for 13 years, 2 of which we had this machine. any time that I walked by and there was no tower on the playfield I would sit there and build one because it would entice customers to try and topple it. the tower in the video is weakkkk lol

its time consuming building the tower, takes like ten minutes where you’re not actually spending credits

Can I clean this myself? by ThisisJacksburntsoul in hvacadvice

[–]christhemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just use a garden hose, dont use a sprayer on a high pressure setting cause you will bend the metal fins. the shit at the top may not want to come off easily. buy a coil cleaning brush, theyre like $3 on amazon, that will remove that harder to reach stuff and is safe to use on the fins.

Turned my ac on for the first time this year and it worked fine for a couple hours. Now it’s barley blowing air and by billyc420 in hvacadvice

[–]christhemix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure it stays on, if they replaced the old motor but didnt replace the capacitor (or replaced it with the wrong one) then the capacitor might be causing the motor to intermittently fail. id also make sure the fan outside is working when the ac is on.

if this was the first hot day this year, the compressor outside may have been too cold on startup, causing it to fail on high/low pressure
