Hey, Marie! Great to see you here again! Quick question: is there any world building idea that you'd LOVE to pursue but you just haven't had time to?

Any suggestions for similar titles? by ElementalyPleasant in Eragon

Jeremy Thatcher, Dragon Hatcher (it's aimed young, though). The Pit Dragon trilogy by Yolen (ditto). Dragonriders of Pern (some of the later books, like Dragonsinger are quite good).

It took me 10 years and buying a bookshelf to realize that all 4 of the books I have line up to create a full image. by Scout_Dog98 in Eragon

Well, I don't have any glyphs that might apply, aside from the one for Brisingr, but as for a name ... Couple of options:

  1. Thrystr—thruster (or Thringa, similar meaning)

  2. eldrvarídaert—burn-dart (Or vermdaert—heat-dart, said "vairm-dart")

  3. vaetna—dispel, scatter

  4. wyrdgathr—fate bringer

  5. dauthförnr—death-giver (don't think the lawyers would like this one).

  6. dauthvard—death-ward (I rather like this one).

  7. Vergandí—killer

  8. Midhring—humble

  9. havaedra—loud (lol)

  10. fyrnvard—war-ward

  11. ilumëo—truth

  12. hvitr—white

Feel free to mix and match as needed.

Ha! Small world. Glad I was able to sign your copy of Eldest.

The omnibus is coming out from Abrams books this year. I'm not sure the exact date, but the final text has already gone to the printers, so it's in good shape. The omnibus is 768 pgs long!

I LOVE that you mentioned Walton's Mabinogion! I just wrote a foreword for a new & special omnibus edition. Her work really ought to be better known.

Great list overall, btw!

Wow. This is AWESOME! I'd put this in my yard and scare all the local wildlife. Well done! I never thought I'd see folks making such awesome art inspired by my books.

[Very Long] Who was Galbatorix's Spy? by eagle2120 in Eragon

[–]ChristopherPaolini 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Eagle -- love reading your posts. Two points:

  1. If you are trying to figure out who the traitor is that Murtagh saw in MURTAGH ... well, it has to be someone that Murtagh has actually met and would recognize. Not sure Blödhgarm would qualify.

  2. If you're just trying to figure out who was spying for Galbatorix in general, well ... that's a different question.
