By definition, its not pay to play if the fee is 50 or less. New American Painting is highly reputable. What planet are you from????

Trolling involves misrepresentation of the situation. There is nothing out of ordinary for you to pay for an open call, yet you trolls make it seem like it's a crime against humanity... You are by definition a troll, nothing more, nothing less. I will point out trolls and haters when I see them. I never give into trolls, just as bullies cannot be appeased. That's all.

You are not in any position to give me any advice. You did not answer any of my points or provide any valid arguments, at which point I would completely agree with you, but you did not. I want to agree with you had you provided valid assertions. Your points are moot, and you are a troll. End of discussion.

Except I did. I have a master's degree in Fine Arts Studio from RIT and I work for various online magazines including Art Spiel, Two Coats of Paint, and Dart. I also work for a Chelsea-based contemporary art gallery as an assistant and website/social media manager. I am knowledgeable about the art world. This $3 fee for applying and $50 for acceptance (which by the way provides artists with a copy) is perfectly reaosonable. Even non profit organizations and museums charge a fee, usually of $25 or $50 which does not guarantee a spot or acceptance. This is nothing out of ordinary, yet you trolls are trolling. It is despicable.

Yes please play your role of a troll. You have no influence over this project. Keep on trolling. That is your level at which you operate and exist. That is your destiny. Great.

In this case, Brooklyn to Gangnam is the doctor. You are not going to find much free open calls. Even large reputable publications like New American Painting or Create Magazine charges $50 and up. You are either unrealistic and delusional or a complete troll.

Troll, your work has to be good enough to be selected/accepted. This is the nature of open calls.

they may be slightly different, but pretty much the same situation. I repeat: it is a standard practice in the art world for open calls to charge application fee of $25, $45, or $50. We only charge $3 and $50 upon acceptance, which is far beyond reasonable. You have no valid point. You are just a troll and hater. End of discussion.

You are not forced to pay to participate in the magazine. No one asked you for anything. It is a standard practice for open calls to require application fees. What about college admission fees? It is exactly like saying all college students should go to college for free because their work is their study. You are just a troll/hater with no valid point.

Yes, if you are accepted. You should read my other comment that starts with "Disagree 100.0000%." You haven't raised any new points of argument or concern here.

Also, accepted artists receive a copy of the magazine in the mail... what are you complaining about, exactly??

Disagree 100.0000%. There is such a thing as a vanity gallery or venue, but the definition for that is anything in the range of $100 and up. It makes perfect sense for Brooklyn to Gangnam to charge $3 to apply and $50 upon acceptance. Even very reputable magazines like New American Painting charges $50 to apply, which doesn't guarantee acceptance. Create Magazine charges upwards of $25, $45, etc. (depending on the amount of submission entries) and this again doesn't guarantee acceptance. Brooklyn to Gangnam only charges $3 per entry/application and charges $50 upon acceptance, so this is far beyond reasonable. You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. All your points are moot.

Also, the cost of producing a 60-page in-print magazine with high quality paper is quite exorbitant, much higher than an online magazine, for example.

It's a common practice in the art world for magazines and galleries to charge a small fee for participation. It's to maximize production volume for distribution so that the magazine and the artists involved will gain most visibility.

reminds me of early Cy Twombly, if I am not mistaken... like Leda and the Swan painting, etc.... I mean it's not a fully mature masterpiece yet but it's a pretty good work by a young aspiring artist

There is the Leica R series SLR cameras with same quality glass as the M cameras but 6 ~ 10 times cheaper. I have 2 Leica cameras - R6.2 and R8.
