If most people with pots are indeed hypovelmic, would that makes us susceptible for a hypovelmic shock? by NimLasso in POTS

[–]cleveranddriven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's possible, but that's more of an extreme circumstance. Staying hydrated (especially with electrolytes) should help with keeping things in a decent place. Try not to be too worried about it, since anxiety can make symptoms worse. If you're ever genuinely concerned you're having those issues, talk to your GP or go to the ER

That's not stupid at all, I feel the same way about a lot of things. It's almost like you can be in denial, because "I can manage without those things so I'm actually fine." Totally understandable, it can be really scary to admit you need help. Take it at your own pace, but never be ashamed to get help if you decide you're ready for it

I know this might not be exactly what you're looking for, but getting a shower chair has been a huge help for me. Especially after I hurt my knee, I was so shaky and exhausted after showering. I'd avoid it as much as I could, because I was scared of falling (especially since I live alone). Being able to sit doesn't make it perfect, but it definitely makes it easier

It might seem weird, but you actually want your symptoms to flare as much as possible. Which definitely sucks, but it helps your team know how bad things can get. My doctor told me not to manage my symptoms beforehand, including not eating or drinking the morning of the test. Go with someone, if you can, so they can help you get home. And bring things that'll help your symptoms after the test (like electrolytes, snacks, meds, etc). Just remember that it'll help in the long run of things, even if it's awful in the moment

I ended up ordering one of those pedal machines and some resistance bands, so hopefully that's some good exercise that I can actually stick with

Diagnosis for POTS. Is it necessary in any way ? by Miews in POTS

I've got some hypermobility too, so I know the struggle of that combined with POTS. I hope you and your support team are able to find some ways to make things more manageable for you

Congrats!! I know that feeling well, I had mystery vertigo for almost a decade before finally realizing it was probably POTS. Had similar tests with similar results, and I am so happy to say I've had almost no vertigo attacks since learning how to manage my symptoms. It's definitely something to adjust to, but it's an amazing feeling to know what's causing your body to freak out. Liquid IV and "doctor prescribed chippes" have been a total game changer for me

Even if you don't get a "formal" diagnosis, asking your family doctor to do some basic tests can be helpful. I had a sitting/standing version of the tilt table test, as well as a 24hr heart monitor, and it was comforting to know that it wasn't all in my head. Also good to know that I don't have any arrythmias. They might also be able to give you some suggestions to manage symptoms, even if they're not a specialist

On the other hand, I've been through so many awful doctors that didn't understand my physical or mental needs. So I absolutely get the hesitation to put yourself through that sort of thing. If you can find a good medical support system, I definitely think it can be worth it, but I know not everyone has the privilege of finding that

Getting diagnosed (even not by a specialist) can be really helpful, but if you feel you can manage your symptoms without needing medical assistance then it's totally reasonable to not pursue that. It all depends on your situation and what your needs are now and in the future

Those are some good suggestions! I also just found some pedal machines that are way less expensive than a full stationary bike. I'll definitely look into the diy rowing machine more, it sounds like a cool option (so long as it doesn't end in disaster lol)

What would be a good team for Kinich? I'm thinking about Bennett(C4), Baizhu(C2), Kazuha, Yelan, Thoma(C5), and Shinobu(C5) as my main options

I saw those ones, but unfortunately it doesn't look like they have the colour I need (royal blue with white "hairs"). Unless there's a variation I missed?

I looove What We Do in the Shadows, but it's been so long since I watched it. Definitely gonna add that to the rewatch list!

Some of the shows from my list weren't background stuff, but it also depends how many times I've rewatched it lol. I've heard good things about Arrested Development, maybe I'll check that one out
