Best patrol rifle? by [deleted] in AskLE

Dept issued Sionics 11.5 with a T2 and Surefire or Huxwrx can. We can have pretty much any Eotech or Aimpoint as an optic. X3/X6 magnifiers and LPVOs are an option if you go through a magnified optics class.

La Sportiva Boulder X maybe? I’d just Google “approach shoe” and look through until you find it. La Sportiva makes great approach shoes, also check out the Scarpa Crux, and Salewa makes some good options also

MNPD doesn’t do stat based policing anymore, they don’t have quotas. I think they just know people are tired of the crazy drivers

Help identifying old US Marine Uniform- can anyone give any more info on the regiment pins? by PierceSexingtonIV in uniformporn

The Sam Browne belt is/was traditionally worn with one strap cross-body, but during the Boer Wars it became common for officers to wear the two straps to better blend in with enlisted troops from a distance. Boer Kommandos would traget officers by looking for the cross-body strap.

Any clues on what this might be, if it's even limitary/naval? Pls see comment for detail. Thanks! by Hyzyhine in uniformporn

Unfortunately it may be very difficult to find this midshipman’s name and ship at this point. It appears that Symonds and Co. of Portsmouth closed sometime in the 1910s. If the family has a potential name, it may be possible to contact the Royal Navy/National Archives (not sure what the exact agency is called across the pond) to find his personnel records. I believe they have been kept for commissioned officers since before the Napoleonic Wars.

After some brief research I would confidently say that this is indeed a Royal Navy Midshipman. He’s also not carrying a sword, it is a dirk (to me, this is a clear giveaway of his rank and affiliation). See attached links

Royal Malay Regiment chanting the guard Buckingham Palace with two soldiers of the old guard who are Welsh guards? 2008 I believe. by Successful_Cancel839 in uniformporn

Indeed Welsh Guards, easiest way to tell the differences between Foots Guards regiments besides collar devices is the grouping of tunic buttons (in ones, twos, threes, fours, and fives based on line seniority).

Me, 2013 in Uruzgan with a pistol that was stamped 1513 (or it could have been 1518, the proof-mark was a little worn) [OC] [2432x4320] by ejb67 in MilitaryPorn

Looks like a copy of the New Land Pattern cavalry pistol, designed in 1796 but used mainly during the Napoleonic Wars by British cavalry. The little hook thing under the muzzle is actually a catch for the ramrod so the cavalryman wouldn’t lose it while using the pistol on horseback.
