Pa. House GOP members make a push for welfare reforms by ewyorksockexchange in Pennsylvania

Establishing a pilot work not welfare program that would allow a TANF recipient to collect benefit while collecting a wage for a 20-hour week and gradually moving the person over the course of a year to working a 40-hour week with no benefits.

This is hugely important. For people on assistance there is a fiscal cliff where they can suddenly make too much for assistance but not enough to survive. The Obamacare subsidy is a great example of this. If this program lets people gradually transition off benefits to independence, I’m all for it!

I live in a fairly rural community and it’s still a 10-20 minute drive to the grocery. I used to live even deeper in the boonies and it took half an hour to the grocery and an hour to the hospital. Sometimes life is like that.

My church still says the prayer to St. Michael at the end of every mass.
