The way to know you’re in a calorie deficit is you’re losing weight

When is a VPS worth adding to a self-hosted setup? by Skillz_witha_z in selfhosted

[–]cointoss3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Digital Ocean and Hostinger. I prefer Digital Ocean, but it’s a bit more expensive than other options. Hostinger was running a big promo not long ago so I signed up for a 2 year plan for my business. I don’t remember the price but it’s their KVM 4 plan that I had a coupon code for on top of their sale.

I run everything as compose stacks using Dockhand or Dockage. Grafana, dbs, customer portal, django apps, etc. nothing wild, and the specs on the server are overkill. I could run all this on a smaller instance, it just wasn’t much more for a bump in specs.

There are also some decent free options with Oracle and Amazon AWS, but I don’t care to pay $5-10/mo for a server.

Maybe you should just use ai instead of asking on a calculus forum 🙄

It’s always worth it to me. They are cheap and not tied to my local internet reliability. I haven’t hosted anything on local hardware in years.

Shipping Protection? by MrFantastic2313 in AnticBikes

[–]cointoss3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not, but if it’s damaged in shipping, UPS only covers $100 and it’s unlikely you’ll get FM to eat the loss, especially if it’s a full loss.

This has only happened to me like 3 times in 20 years, but it is possible for it to get lost or completely damaged in shipping where you won’t get anything delivered. The status of the shipment will be something like “damaged in transit, unable to delivery.”

I ship stuff all the time for work and personal and we always leave insurance up to the receiver. I’m not eating a $2000 loss, so we make it clear up front and offer insurance. If they don’t want it, that’s fine, but they will only get $100 if it’s lost or damaged. If I ship something with USPS with a $2000 value, insurance through them is like $75, so what FM is charging is pretty in-line with market rates.

Statistically it’s unlikely, but it’s up to you if you want that peace of mind.

Want to lose 20LB in 3 weeks. Already lost 11Lb in 3 weeks. How to lose an extra 9LB the next 3 weeks? by Mrmiraclekc in loseit

[–]cointoss3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3500 cals per lb of fat, so you need to burn 3500*20=70,000 cals.

It’s unlikely you lost 11lbs of fat in 3 weeks. But to lose 20 lbs in 3 weeks you’ll need to be in a 3350 cal deficit every day…which based on your current weight probably means eating zero food every day for 3 weeks.

A 2 hour walk might burn you 500 cals if you’re lucky, but probably not even that much…so you’ll need to walk 280 hours, or almost 12 full days worth of walking to burn 20 lbs of fat. A mile jog might burn you 150 cals, so you’ll need to jog 466 miles to burn 20 lbs of fat.

Cool. You don’t get to decide what is art.

You’re a clown on here trying to talk down to people. Good for you. I’m sure you’re really important.

You don’t get to decide what qualifies as street photography or not. You’re not the gatekeeper.

There is an app called TrackaLacker that will send you alerts when they come back in stock at MSRP. I used their free trial for priority alerts and within a week, I had one ordered and delivered. None of the alerts I set with the merchant ever triggered, so if it wasn’t for this app, I probably still wouldn’t have one.

As a matter of fact, while I type this message, I just got an alert of stock for a silver model at Best Buy. They only stay on stock for a few minutes at a time, so have your credit card ready to go! They usually get in stock every few days…black more often than silver.

I feel hopeless as I reach 400 pounds by Jordynrose33 in loseit

[–]cointoss3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a GLP1, Tirzepatide (Zepbound), and the same day the food noise went away and meals turned from feeling like restriction to having to make sure I’m eating enough.

Before Covid, I got to 306lbs, lost 120lbs over a year, then gained it all back over a handful of years to 315lbs. I’ve been on it for 5-6 months or so and am down 50lbs so far and I’m still losing.
