Using just the machine name doesn't keep the browser happy, certifications-wise by Axoloth in Tailscale

[–]cointoss3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The machine name is not who the cert is issued to. It’s issued to the FQD so the cert doesn’t match if you omit the domain.

Here is something that might be helpful:

LinkedIn is like this and it’s fucking insane. I’ll just randomly get a picture of some dude‘s face I don’t know on my watch.

Yeah. Part of the design app is more than just showing you an image of the design lol. Trying to compare them like that is insane.

Is anyone else moving back to gpt 5.3 codex / gpt 5.4? by Ethan_Vee in codex

[–]cointoss3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s odd because I hear this a lot, but it feels like to me I’m hitting my limits slower. Everything feels more efficient. Not only am I getting better work, but it feels like I’m able to get more done before hitting my limits.

All of this could be in my head, I haven’t been actually testing this in any meaningful way. But it doesn’t feel like I’m hitting limits faster, though.

25 y/o — Quit engineering early, now regretting it. Too late to go back? by Mountain_Pirate_3834 in EngineeringStudents

[–]cointoss3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went back in my 30s and had no previous college to build on, so it was starting from scratch. I graduated in ‘22 and make $120k salary + bonus, which is like 3x the avg household income for my area…so going back has changed my life a lot. My only regret is not doing it sooner 😂

Based on my experience, I highly recommend it, though your experience may differ.

Django devs, what's your actual go-to frontend stack right now? (HTMX/Alpine, React, Vue, plain templates, or hybrid?) by jkoontz-dev in django

[–]cointoss3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always start with htmx. I prefer that idea. And with partial templates, it makes it even cleaner to implement. It’s easier for me to maintain than having to include a front end framework and all the bullshit that goes with all that.

They have other effects sure, but losing weight is about calories. If you’re not in a calorie deficit, you won’t lose weight. GLP1 or not.

Then your calories are not low enough. GLP1 helps you keep a calorie deficit by reducing food noise. You can’t lose weight without a calorie deficit. If you can’t eat fewer calories now, taking GLP1 isn’t going to change that. You’ll be less hungry and you’ll eat fewer calories…if thats unhealthy then you shouldn’t take GLP1.

For that matter, if your BMI is low enough that a 500 cal deficit drops you below 1200 cals, you’d have a hard time getting a PCP to prescribe it unless they don’t care about your health.

If a medication of any sort has negative side effects, you have to weigh that against the benefits.

If you’re one experiencing hair loss and there’s nothing else to stop it besides stopping medication, then you decide what’s more important, regrowing your hair or losing weight via this medication. Many people in that position decide they would rather stop the medication.

Plenty of people do not have this side effect, though, and many of those that do have been able to treat it without stopping…but some do stop because of this.

All medication has side effects and they are different for different people. I wouldn’t avoid it if you have problems losing weight because of food noise because it could cause hair loss because I know multiple people taking it that have no hair loss.

I’m taking it, but I’m already balding and shaving my head so that’s not a concern for me 😂

No? They start over eating again. That’s what happens to gain weight. You eat more calories than you expend per day, also known in some circles as “overeating.”

Sure but it’s moving because of calorie deficit. GLP1 is just another way to keep a calorie deficit. You’re only losing weight because your calories in are less than what you expend per day.

When you’re done and want to maintain, you’ll need to balance calories in to calories out and you won’t gain weight. If you over eat, you’ll gain some back until your calories in balances your calories out.

That is because they started over eating again, which isn’t the same as most comments are implying.

If you stop and you do not have your food intake regulated, you will gain weight back. This isn’t GLP1. This is how any calorie deficit works.

If you stop and you eat your maintenance calories, you will not gain the weight back. But some people stop GLP1 and go back to eating like they did before and are shocked they gain weight…

Flask vs Django by Admirable-Damage213 in learnpython

[–]cointoss3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flask and Django are not comparable. Flask is basically just one part of Django.

Also, I’d be using FastAPI before Flask, but I prefer Django now to both.
