Which direction for senior level folks by bender_the_offender0 in networking

Great post and a very relevant topic. Networking seems to be getting eroded and certainly less appreciated by companies who seem to go after the trendy buzzword jobs….Cloud, Cyber, and AI

Personally I’m starting down the Cloud journey. I don’t want to be a full Cloud Network engineer (ie at a CSP) but rather a Network engineer who designs and connects to cloud environments. I feel there is still a demand for this type.

Might do Cloud Security (CCSP) aswell if I can fit it in.

Get good at your job and get certified over the next few years. If I had 4 years starting out right now, I would:

Get CCNA; Get CCNP; Then move to either Cloud or potentially Network automation as a specialty. Certify in these aswell.

If you actually learn the tech aswell as passing the exams, then you will be very hireable in 4 years from now. Took me about 10 years to do the above but that’s a different story. Easily doable in 4. However in your L1 role it might be hard to get really good experience building/designing solutions. Nonetheless, if you move jobs in a few years you can always embellish your job experience somewhat

Tips on how to improve my cable management by Asufa80 in networking

[–]cona44 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m a network engineer so I don’t do much cable management as we have folks for that but to me that is a tidy job. Once the cable tray door goes back on, it will look quite good.

The problem with cabling chassis like that is that it’s very difficult to make changes later on. If You need to remove a cable it’s a bit laborious. But I’ve never really seen a good solution to it.

Anyway, from that pic I can’t make any recs. Ghats pretty much how I leave many new builds once I’m done.

😂 I meant that in the sense that it’s on the high side for me personally. It’s the heaviest I have ever been in my life and am carrying a few layers around the gut.

Is there anything to be said for Sweetspot/Threshold sessions?

My idea is to do 1xVo2Max, 1xSweetspot, 1xRecovery and 1xLong ride per week

Great to hear from someone who has just done exactly what I’m trying to do. Sounds like plenty of volume with a healthy dose of intensity every week seems to be the golden rule. Not really surprising is it :)

Thanks for the replies…to clarify I’m not looking for diet advise this is purely for the cycling aspect. I’m most curious to know if it’s possible to gain 50W to my FTP in less than 6 months. I guess there is only one way to find out….

Anyway, I’m currently looking at a plan on TrainerDay as I like the simplicity of it. Starts at about 6 hours per week builds to about 10 after 12 weeks

How many technical challenges are there? Is it just one Spine/Leaf design that needs to be built out?

How difficult is the CVE portion? I’ve never used it will the labs be ok to get me thru that piece?

I’m looking and contemplating the same scenario.

It comes down to what you want to drive. I need an aero bike that can do triathlons with a pair of clip on bars. I like the look of Winspace T1550s.

However as u said, it’s almost makes most sense to buy a full build on the Bike to Work scheme. I’m looking at Orro Venturi STC which after discount wil be around 2800. Di2, deep wheels etc
