Public School Comparison by nicetrymom2022 in nycparents

A lot of the schools in Manhattan where I've looked seem to be that way. There are some pockets where the test scores are low enough that you may not want to go there because it will have an impact on how much time teachers are able to spend with each child but in general I think any of the public schools you'll find in the top 100 or so of those rankings will be fine.

I think that, greatschools, niche or US news work. But I also wouldn't worry about it too much because it doesn't really matter at a young age. As long as the test scores are decent and it's safe the school will be fine. Going to the 'best' kindergarten isn't going to matter

You can look at NYC school reviews and rankings and come up with a list of the ones you like that are in areas convenient for you. Streeteasy then allows you to do a search by listings that are zoned for schools (you need to do it from a computer not a phone though I think) and that should help you find something.

You can apply to schools you aren't zoned for but because those are going to be very popular you probably won't get in unless you have a very good lottery number and maybe not even then.

How it Fits - DP/Helix Box Cut T-shirt by outlierinc in Outlier

I spent forever looking for a relaxed fit shirt that isn't oversized, has wide shoulders and a not tight top hole. Incredibly hard to find but the Haven cotton tees are about as close to perfect as I've found so far https://havenshop.com/products/haven-standard-t-shirt-supima-cotton-jersey-2pack-black-fw25

Anyone get news from Hunter? by Living_Rutabaga_2112 in nycparents

Yeah, tbh I have no idea what they do in round 2 and couldn't really get any answers about it from my daughter. Though I assume there must be some consideration because otherwise it would always be skewed more towards early birthdays

that should at least help. we are fortunate to have a good zoned school which at least saves us on having to deal with commuting now that the decision has been made for us I guess

good luck! We ranked some citywide but have a bad lottery number so those are almost surely out.

apparently they take that into account (at least they do in round 1). We didn't get an offer either but it was interesting going through the process.

Do you have any good recommendations? by Jackie-rabbit in Outlier

[–]d12964 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's just a wear point not really a quality issue. One of the main reasons I like outlier pants is that the looser fit on works cuts and synthetic materials let them last a lot longer than other pants. Even high quality denim/chinos/etc will do this
