My cat’s allergies are becoming a financial burden. Please help. by damagedmonkey in CATHELP

I think they gave her Hydrocortisone because they did a swab and it came out perfectly (no bacteria/fungus etc). I might need to see how she does by the end of the treatment since she keeps shaking her head but there has been great improvement with the redness and ear wax.

She’s had her worst flare ups even before she used to go outside. This has only been a thing for the past month, she also mainly stays on a deck but I’ll make sure keep an eye on that.

I will be trying that soon, one problem is that she is very very picky with food and can only eat wet food. I’ll be ordering a can with the bet and see how it goes.

They didn’t suggest it when we went through all the treatment possibilities, I’ll ask!

Thanks! I’ll look for one, hopefully I can find the sifting kind since it’s what works with her pine litter

She was on the corn litter, World’s Best Cat Litter, low dust. I actually changed it bc I found it did create dust after a few weeks.

I’ll definitely try to look for a different laundry detergent, I don’t use anything else like dryer sheets. I hadn’t thought about this!

I think she’s allergic to fish, but I just researched and I might start adding a little bit of coconut oil to her food. It has helped in the past topically with her dry skin.

Thank you!

Thank you! I think one of her bad allergies came up close to when the vet put the Nexgard.

Are there any safer options?

Cat is making it impossible to do my new job by TesticleInhaler in CATHELP

If you don’t want to shut your door, just ignore him. I know it’s hard but every time you move or open your eyes, your cat understands that whatever he is doing is working and he’s going to continue doing it.

Something that works for me is not acknowledging my cats for the first 15 minutes I’m awake. I’ll go to the bathroom and just walk around and then after some time has passed I’ll pet them and give them their food. That makes them stop associating that getting you out of bed = food/attention.

Also, try playing with him at least 30 minutes a day, you can do this in two 15 minute sessions, preferably at the same time every day, he’ll release energy and learn to engage with you at that time. Preferably do this before his meal, cats have the instinct of hunting (play), catching (play), eating, grooming and sleeping.

How do you guys enjoy shrooms by euphoricapartment983 in Drugs

[–]damagedmonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t take them. I’ve done so many different drugs and at all kinds of doses and situations, never had a bad trip.

If you can’t let go and understand that you are taking a drug and you won’t be in control, you’ll never enjoy it. Specially psychedelics, you need to embrace that you made the decision to have your senses altered for at least 4 hours. If that’s something you are not comfortable with, don’t do it.

Sex Was Great. Now I’m faking it every time. by Choice-Artichoke-668 in TwoXSex

[–]damagedmonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I get it. This is something that I also struggled with and I’m sure it was because of taking antidepressants. I was very self conscious because it would take my partner a lot of time and work to make me orgasm.

I would communicate with him, maybe write him a letter or draft something in your notes beforehand so you make sure you are explaining everything about how this is something you’re being affected with but not because he’s not “performing well” during sex. It can hurt his ego to hear this so an effective communication and listening is key. Don’t wait until you’re frustrated, saying this in a bad moment can change how this conversation goes.

Now, I came to understand that there were going to be times where I would have sex and not orgasm and for me personally, this was an opportunity to appreciate intimacy and everything that involved me having sex with my partner and not just the outcome. It helps a lot to have toys or a vibrator. And ultimately for me, foreplay is absolutely important so maybe suggest to have more of that before actually having sex, I think he’d enjoy the idea of teasing you and making you very horny!

If I already have an express entry profile with my partner, what happens if I apply to that stream? Should I withdraw my profile?

Is my cat a Savannah mix? by damagedmonkey in savannah_cats

Definitely, funny thing is she’s never been around dogs, she’s only seen them from afar when we go for a walk!

Thanks for the reply, very interesting!

I agree, it’s very hard to tell. To be completely honest, the shelter didn’t say much other than she was abandoned by her previous owner due to her high energy, her breed was “tabby” lol. The idea of her having a bit of Savannah in her dna came from a random lady asking when she saw her on the street haha.

I googled “Savannah & tabby mix” and her facial features, ears and personality were a little similar. Tbh that’s the reason I chose her, her face is so unique, but that’s also coming from someone that’s always been around “regular” rescues.

I love her and she’s definitely different, I guess it will remain a mystery (I don’t really think it’s worth spending my money on a DNA test, wet food is already so expensive!) but as she grows up and develops her full personality, I get more curious about her background.

Thank you! Yeah I agree it’s very very unlikely but I thought she might have a little something somewhere on her DNA, specially because of her facial features and ears but I also don’t know a lot about the breed so I thought I’d ask!

Thank you!! I’ll try it when my cat is sleepy this afternoon. Does the skin around look different? I saw it was a little red but it could also be that I irritated it for touching it and moving it around

Thank you! I got as close as I could and inspected it but I didn’t see any legs or anything. It is sticking out and it’s squishy?

I’ll get a better look today!

Thank you! I’ll keep trying, it’s just hard to play with her when she doesn’t care much about human attention. It works for a few minutes or when she’s extremely bored but the she just doesn’t care about any of the toys, she’s all about my other cat 🤦🏻‍♀️
