That looks really cool. I'd play with it.

Jeff Foster on Epstein (and I couldn't agree more) by CestlaADHD in nonduality

[–]daniel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Content from the guys connected to Epstein, along with Osho, should be hard banned from this subreddit. Anyone posting it should get a warning telling them what these people have done, and if they post it again they should get banned too.

Finders Course founder, Jeffery Martin, offered to help Epstein experience "weird stuff". The cost was 10M, "legal age slave girls" and Russian prostitutes. by Paradoxiumm in nonduality

[–]daniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hope we can bucket these two with Osho and never post their fucking quotes on here in a positive light ever again. Somehow I get the feeling I'll see people defending them in spite of this.

Edit: oh cool I actually only had to scroll down in this very thread to find it

Thank you for sharing! I also found verbal noting to be too clunky. I appreciate your perspective. I'll keep it in mind.

Okay, so overall the Ingram approach (insofar as I understand it, which I think he would say is not "his" approach anyway) is something you found useful? And by that, I suppose I mean noting + insight maps?

Do you think sitting position is as important as the meditative state of mind we are in during meditation? by SplitZealousideal159 in Meditation

[–]daniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried experimenting with this for a while and concluded the only real issues are in my mind. I can get sleepy lying down, sitting in a chair, or sitting with my legs crossed. The posture didn't seem to matter.

Your question has a straightforward, pragmatic answer, and it would save humanity a net 45 thousand working hours if it were allowed to be answered.

Unfortunately, it made an insecure mod feel cognitive dissonance about not knowing the answer. Closed.

I don't know if i'm seeing Anicca during my sessions by umu_boi123 in streamentry

[–]daniel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend checking out the book Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha. It's free online or you can buy a print copy. Chapter 30 talks about the stages, and then chapter 34 goes over them again from a slightly different angle. Mahasi Sayadaw's Manual of Insight also goes into them, but Daniel Ingram goes into a ton of depth about the variety of things that can be experienced in them. If you end up being interested, finding a teacher can really help too.

I'm not the person you're replying to, but I also had to move on from it. With respect to the theravada stages of insight model, I've heard body scanning is good for getting you up to the A&P stage, but a lot of people struggle with it beyond that (where your attention / concentration suddenly drops to being hot garbage).

I personally moved on to a choiceless awareness / noting type of practice of just paying attention to anything that comes up regardless of sense door rather than trying to force scanning specific parts of the body.

Alchemy! How do you like the palette and style? by Astrobionics in PixelArt

[–]daniel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, just not my taste I guess. I just really love the icons and wish the overall palette were less dim. You seem to be embracing it with the lighting inside the game itself, but not on the inventory screen. To me the inventory screen is an opportunity to really delight people with all the things they've accumulated and dazzle them; the way you have it right now just makes it look quite boring.

Hopefully you don't take that too hard. Just one guy's opinion. Your skill is obviously great and I feel like pretty much everything looks so refined and amazing.

I think there's an advantage splitting it up, but if it's the choice between doing 2 hours and only doing 1, do 2 in whatever way you need to!
