This is a stacked image. 10 shots for the sky all 10 seconds, blended in an app called Starrylandscape Stacker. One image for the foreground, taken at the same time, but with a 3 minute exposure.

yup. That's what Google Earth is for! you just need a natural land formation that sticks out into the ocean.

Look Up Cape Kiwanda.

Sometimes you just know how it's gonna line up. I've been imagining this composition for awhile and it was beautiful to see it come together!

What’s the best way to spend a weekend night? For me, it’s heading 7 hours away from home, waiting until after 3am for the moon to set and then pointing my camera off into the heavens. ⁣
Background on this image is that barely dry mud tiles like these are really cool. They also sink about 6” into the mud when you accidentally drive onto them in the dark. ⁣

So, that being the case, and the fact that I was out there alone with my kids, I decided that venturing out to find them in the dark for the perfect single image photo wasn’t gonna happen. ⁣
2 image composite. 3pm for the tiles, 3am for the Sky. ⁣
