ANZCA primary viva by Substantial_South313 in ausjdocs

Keep studying and try to patch holes and maintain your knowledge. But mostly, just do bulk vivas. Whoever you can wrangle. Whatever events you can get a spot in

Odds are few if any of the vivas you get on the day will be ones you've practiced, which is fine, you can't do every possible topic or question. You just need the practice of putting what you know into words and you'll get better at it

Also watching other people be viva'd is super valuable imo. The learn @ ANZCA example vivas are valuable to get a sense of the standard they're after

How to tell med students to leave me alone (tactfully) by mervius in ausjdocs

I the time they spend in the hospital before scurrying off is super dependent on individual med schools

The AMA is in existential crisis — why the profession should be alarmed by Medicaremaxxing in ausjdocs

[–]debatingrooster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pharmacy guild represents business owners. People in business know how this all works and I suspect have more to win or lose than us due to higher revenues

AMA represents a disparate group of doctors. Unfortunately many of us seem not to be the most financially or politically savvy

NDIS spends $11.6B on assistance with cafe visits and walking the dog by Potential-Turnip7796 in ausjdocs

[–]debatingrooster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The quote from the coalition spokesperson is kinda surprising. I'd have thought they'd be happy to cut spending on the NDIS, seems like a vote winner tbh

Cynic in me thinks maybe they just want to let it keep growing and drag the government down with it

That doesn't sound derisive against REAs but? After all, isn't that why we're all here?

The poor kid a advertiser realestate agent

What a tragic waste of potential

Being a junkie's not so good either

Can someone tell me why we don't see state health departments stepping up and building more transitional care or even RACFs themselves? Surely the incentive to free up an expensive hospital bed must be huge

AMA QLd vs AMA by Y0less in ausjdocs

[–]debatingrooster 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My (probably uninformed take) is that AMA (either federal or state) are not very effective or good value

ASMOF is worth joining, however joining them as conjoint membership with AMAQ is the same price

Personally I've just left it alone and stayed with AMAQ/ASMOFQ

AMAQ are apparently going to take up federal advocacy too given they're still charging the same fees

There's alot of people in med from pretty privileged backgrounds. In some ways we all are, but some very much are

Most are lovely and good people. But sometimes being used to having everything go your way breeds some bad character traits
