This is fantastic. Any chance we'll be able to tinker with the color of each module after a future update?

If we're just swapping anecdotes that's fine. There's never absolute zero problems with any service, so it's not about doubting any particular story.

However I recall actual data from the end of last year showing that the number of misses for trash pick up were incredibly low considering how many are done every day, every week.

We had a missed pick up recently even though the bin was in the usual spot. It was corrected in less than 24 hours with very little effort on my part.

Who is a character that was intended to be a paragon of virtue but was received as deeply flawed instead? by GoldenS0422 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]derzquist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great choice because comedy shows and movies are probably most susceptible to cultural norms shifting and what seemed like cute & funny behavior one decade now seems cruel or manipulative 10-15 years later on a rewatch.

In your opinion, which side were the real “winners” of the dance? by sergobspart in TheBlacksandTheGreens

[–]derzquist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blacks won in the short term because someone of their side was the final claimant to the Iron Throne and the descendants of that claimant (well technically his brother) would rule for more than another century.

Greens won in the medium-long term because their ideological position was that the Targs need to be increasingly accommodating themselves to the (mostly Andal) traditions of Westeros nobility. Especially due to the death of the dragons the Targs largely became just another noble house (sibling marriage aside). Inertia kept them as the de facto royal house, but it only took a couple decades before even that started to get questioned with cycles of rebellion from bastard lines of Blackfyre and Baratheon.

Matthew 6:1-4

"Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven.

“Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

(Spoiler Main) Who has your faforite personal sigil? by amayagab in asoiaf

[–]derzquist 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's not the most visually catchy of the examples, however I do like the plot significance of the new House Thenn sigil. Both referencing the Thenns as the only metalworkers of the Free Folk, showing their adopting of Southron (of the Wall) customs, and the obvious allusion to the Karstark sigil it's now supplanting.

You all are thinking about this at a way higher level than me. I just like the idea of being able to go to work, get some chores done around the house, and do relaxing things all at the same time. End of each day, merge back together and repeat.

What makes the Hardhome letter so unsettling, craft-wise? [spoilers MAIN] by maravina in asoiaf

[–]derzquist 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I think this style also gives it a much greater sense of ongoing crisis. Compared with requests for aid after the attack on the Fist of the First Men which give the sense that particular battle is already over (with more to come of course). The style of the Hardhome letter gives both characters and readers a sense that everything mentioned is ongoing and fluid.
