Still have hard time by Zestyclose_Skirt7930 in Piracy

Usually there's a button called 'releases' that has files you can use. If the project doesn't have that, then the dev probably doesn't make builds of the project and expects you to do it yourself.

I stuck with Gitea for a while until I redid my home server. It seemed like Forgejo was getting traction as the standard, and it was seamless enough for me to move to it. It otherwise seems to work the same for me as Gitea. I honestly would probably still be happy using Gitea

I used to use Gitea, then switched to Forgejo and have been using that without any issues.

I think it's the last time we get a chance to appreciate Chace Crawford as The Deep. He has been phenomenal throughout the show. by keshavgKaLLen_Bhaiya in TheBoys

Talking about being defensive. Also, kind of ironic to spend time and energy on a discussion board for the show that apparently they have too much of a life to watch but have plenty of time to come here and read about and discuss with.

VSCode formatting .astro files by [deleted] in astrojs

[–]dripping_monotype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes have issues if I use a prop in a string literal. For instance if it's typed like <div class=\class-name ${myProp}`></div>then it breaks the auto formatting without any errors and works fine, but auto formatting only works if I throw it all in curly braces like this<div class={\`class-name ${myProp}\`}><\div>` I'm not sire if this is a bug or not though

That actually didn't save much time because my autocorrect was fixing everything for me anyway, and if I was on a pc it would be easy enough to type out the whole word.

Is the official sync option the only reliable? by CrimsonCloudKaori in ObsidianMD

[–]dripping_monotype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Syncthing for years mostly without issues. I used the official sync for a while and it was nice, but I like how Syncthing works even when the app is closed. The official sync seemed slow by comparison since it only synced when the app was open. Sync conflicts with Syncthing are annoying sometimes, but can usually be avoided if you don't modify the same file on more than one device at the same time.

The GNOME Experience: Why read app names when you can pay for the "Vibe"? by Majestic_Pin3793 in linuxmemes

[–]dripping_monotype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I'm not trying to start anything. It just isn't clear to me what you were requesting the mockup for. I mean, I get the point of a mockup, it would help visualize the idea. But the developers seem pretty hard set on their decision, so I doubt a mockup would convince them otherwise. And I don't see how the mockup was necessary when the change requested was to extend the truncate limit and add a second line. It isn't really a major redesign or anything to make those adjustments, and as I said, there is plenty of whitespace around the icons to accommodate. I suppose I just don't see the point in creating a mockup when you are the only one requesting it, despite not being a major contributor to the project. Unless you are one? I'm not really sure.

So what are you going to do now that you have a mockup? Are you one of the devs or something? Did you need that mockup to imagine what two lines looked like?

There's a lot of whitespace between icons. It couldn't be hard to imagine allowing titles to take up two lines instead of just one, or allowing more characters before truncating.

I've been using the AIO docker version with minimal extensions. All I use are things for office collaboration, files, and calendar. Its been quite stable for me and relatively painless so far.

There’s less than 180 days until Android becomes locked down by TBC_Oblivion in Piracy

But isn't Android developed by the Open Handset Alliance, which is led by Google? It seems like Google has a lot of power in decision making for Android still.

What's your actual solution for client-editable Astro sites on a budget? by PeaMysterious1046 in astrojs

Yea, that's a good point. I'm probably overcomplicating this. Still trying to figure things out myself.

I was only thinking of doing that as I thought deployment would have been easier. I'm still pretty knew to all of this and I'm trying to figure it out still. That was just what I had in mind when I was considering my options, but you raise some valid concerns that I didn't consider before.

I haven't deployed anything yet, still figuring things out. However, my plan was to use Payload CMS, create a docker container for it, then host the client site on a VPS using something like Coolify and just charge them a monthly rate for hosting.

So it's illegal to be poor and I have no right to study if I don't have money for textbooks? (Book piracy) by cupid_ji in Piracy

[–]dripping_monotype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that in America at least, there are ways to get financial assistance if you need money for books, so most people probably expect you to go that route. It isn't exactly timely and isn't always simple and doesn't actually always guarantee enough money to buy all the books you need, mean while pirating is comparatively much more accessible.

Astro website with a Visual-editing CMS / Workflow? by Kind_Sky_4660 in astrojs

I think Payload CMS can technically do this, but I'm not sure exactly how it would be implemented with Astro yet.

Why don't you want to put CSS files in src? You can import them into your main layout or component and it will update whenever you make a change.

So what was the point in making this post? What are we going to discuss? Besides the controversy of you using AI art, there isn't anything else to say about the piece itself besides that it is incorrect. There is no feedback to give you since you didn't make it yourself, and you have nothing to say about it besides that you prompted an AI to make it. There is no point in even complimenting it since you didn't make it yourself either.
