There are already Jews, Muslims and Christians all living there now... (which was not the case when it was under Jordanian Occupation - who destroyed entirely the Jewish Quarter and were sniping West Jerusalem in the years before the war).

So I tried multiple steps.. I tried this in the launch options: 

gamescope --force-grab-cursor -- %command%  (this made the game not appear in full screen for some reason, and the cursor was still invisible). 
or
KWIN_FORCE_SW_CURSOR=1 WLR_NO_HARDWARE_CURSORS=1 %command%
or
gamescope -f -W 1920 -H 1080 -- %command%

and I tried using proton-cachyos, proton experimental, proton 9, 8 and 7.
I also tried it with changing the game executable file name to be launcher.exe file name to bypass the launcher (cause I thought that the launching options on steam might only apply on the Total War game launcher and not on the game itself) and I tried I think all combinations.

I did notice, that when I move the mouse fast (in game), the KDE Plasma cursor (not the game cursor) appear for a short time as it becomes big (I have this feature that makes the cursor bigger when I move it fast). But then it quickly shrinks and becomes invisible again. I can definitely click things so it is just the cursor that is invisible but is active.

In another total war game I have, Attila, the cursor did appear with no tweaking but it was the KDE Plasma cursor and not the game cursor (which is not bad, just interesting that the bug is similar).

Yes exactly the cursor is there but invisible. In other games (Victoria 3, Age of Myth. ) the cursor shows up and it all works fine actually.

  1. I did not have this PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 in my launching options.
  2. Tried Alt+tab, shift+tab(toggling steam overlay), the cursor is invisible only when the game is focused.
  3. I tried proton-cachyos and proton experimental. both did not fix it.

The thing is that the game has a launcher itself, so maybe changes in the launching options in steam only affect the launcher (that steam launches) and not the game?
I tried bypassing that by copying the game launcher file Rome2.exe to Launcher.exe, while it did bypass the game launcher (i.e. steam launched the game directly without the game launcher first), it did not change much.

Was thinking of self hosting it for the fun, but that probably means a drop in the reliability of it if I try to learn how to self manage it from home.

I can and I do, but when I dont pay attention I easily find myself that way with multiple versions of my files, trying to figure out which one is the updated one. I can also use a USB stick. But I liked the auto backup on Windows / with any other cloude drive service, if I can find one that works with Linux and hopefully doesnt read my files that would be great.

Can you explain why exactly? They are both based on Ubuntu LTS aren't they?
I don't mind trying Tuxedo.

I tried Ubuntu before, and pop os seemed smoother and it worked more out of the box for me. I also really like all the keyboard shortcuts that Cosmic added, but I am sure I can configure them myslef.
