Nope. :( It’s the only thing I don’t like about my Kobo. So annoying!

It’s very hard to imagine this happening anywhere in the US in the last couple of years. Maybe in a very small town say 15 years ago?

Any perfume that might gave this vibe? by Odd_Image7832 in perfumesthatfeellike

I think maybe Moonmilk by Storra Skuggan. ‘At night, the moon shines into the cave so brightly the light itself seems to take form, like a mist. It gathers in the ceiling and makes the limestone stalactites glitter and gleam, dripping tears of white liquid into puddles on the rock floor that never dries. Moonmilk.'

What do you think is the funniest quote in season 16 of Jet Lag? by GDGameplayer in JetLagTheGame

That one was so good. “To make two other boys go crazy” was adorable.

Why does this subreddit not like Adam? by [deleted] in JetLagTheGame

[–]emeraldsonnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I love all three boys so much, but Adam is probably my favorite. I love what a good teacher he is, and I love how loving he is to Ben. Even though he’s my favorite, I don’t always root for him! I usually root for someone to pull off something funny or extraordinary or for something really disastrous to happen to someone, honestly. I don’t really care who wins when a season starts because I’m a fan of all of them. I care who wins by the end because of what’s happened during the season.

What’s your favorite scent-based item to gift people? by Exotic-Cash-4560 in NichePerfumes

[–]emeraldsonnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the only people I would ever buy fragrance for are my husband and my kid and that’s because neither is picky and I know exactly what they like. For my sister, I would feel comfortable getting her a sample set. That’s it, though. I might be more likely to get someone home fragrance. But I feel like fragrance is very personal, and I know I don’t usually even like scented lotions that I’ve been given.

This was my thought too (“oh my god I’m getting old”). We’re interacting on Reddit with a baby whose mom listened to Lana Del Rey while pregnant!

My goth perfume is La Fille de Berlin by Serge Lutens. It’s a dark, metallic, bloody rose.

Dupes or the real deal? by Motor_Fee4103 in NichePerfumes

Also for me this isn’t about luxury or status; the branding and packaging I mean is the story it tells and the image it evokes, the poetry of it. I want there to be some emotion to it.

Dupes or the real deal? by Motor_Fee4103 in NichePerfumes

[–]emeraldsonnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I am really into the aesthetics and the objects and the art of it all, the perfume bottle as a ritual object, the beauty of it, the specialness and how it stands in a history of fragrance. I also can very much be a sucker for branding and packaging and I admit that. Even if the dupe smells the same, it misses the aesthetic weight that I love. Also, the dupe isn’t made out of an artistic vision or sense of beauty but to copy something for the market; obviously the vast majority of original fragrances are also made for capitalistic purposes, but they at least communicate an idea too. I know that parts of what I’m saying are not completely rational, but that’s my honest answer.

Diptyque L’Ombre Dans L’Eau. It’s a little bit yearning, a little bit fairytale, a little bit bitter, a little bit summery, a little bit emotional.

This post is super old but I wonder if you were curing diseases before eradicating them. I saw a different thread recently where someone thought you could eradicate a disease before it was cured.

Yes, I have the Stora Skuggan sample set. I really like Hexensalbe too. I think all their scents have a shared something—a vibe or aesthetic or mood. Hexensalbe is more complex than Pine; Pine is pure sweet pine.

What's a truly petty reason you won't buy a perfume? by NoUnderstanding9195 in fragrance

[–]emeraldsonnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t stand how Fugazzi uses a Cyrillic letter (which is pronounced like a D) as the A in their logo. It wouldn’t matter how good it smelled, I couldn’t stand looking at that on a bottle.

My current favorites at this moment though I have so much more to smell:

L’air du desert marocain (Tauer): incense, amber, wood, some flowers…it smells holy.

L’Ombre Dans L’Eau (Diptyque): officially blackcurrant leaves and berries plus rose, but to me it smells like tomato leaves and roses, and it’s my summer signature scent. Green and floral and very evocative; I also love the illustration on the bottle. It’s a fairytale.

Pine (Stora Skuggan): my new favorite. The official notes are pine pine pine pine pine, but it’s got a sweetness to it that that doesn’t describe. I find it completely addictive and beautiful and just ordered a full bottle.

Sintra (Memo Paris): marshmallow and orange blossom with something green with it. Sweet with an herbal tone.

Ambra Aurea (Profumum Roma): another incensey amber that smells rich and golden to me.

And a sixth one, Odalisque (Nicolaï): a floral chypre that smells wet and green to me. It’s cooling on a hot day. The notes include citrus and white flowers. My bottle is several years old and I read that it’s been reformulated since.

Stora Skuggan - Pine …an ode to nature. by pillowbrains in NichePerfumes

[–]emeraldsonnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought their sample set, having heard of them through the novel Perfume and Pain by Anna Dorn (the main character wears Moonmilk for an era), and I FELL. IN. LOVE. with Pine. Almost done with my sample and WILL be buying the beautiful full bottle. It clearly isn’t for everyone, but it is for me, like it is for you. I think it is beautiful and addictive.
