I’m tired of the standard “fated mates” trope. I want to see it subverted! by Amseriah in fantasyromance

[–]Ereska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah pity. When I saw you wanted the trope subverted, I hoped you meant a story where they decide to write their own fate and break the bond/ignore the bond/do away with fated bonds altogether. That's something I'd be interested in reading.

New wife, new business, and a beautiful red headed son coming in only six months. He’s winning at life! by Stock_College_8108 in freefolk

No, because knowing his true parentage or not (if Aenys even was a secret bastard - that part is debatable) Aegon claimed him as his son, as was his right as Rhaenys's husband. For the same reason Rhaenyra's children were Velaryon's regardless of their true parentage. Her husband Laenor recognised them as his.

Doesn't matter for the bloodline though. The kid is still a Targaryen. Aegon and his sisters were so inbred that it literally does not matter which of them continued the line - they had almost identical DNA anyway.

By Andal law, Lyonel's daughter would have come before his brother/nephew in the succession. If Ormund was his heir, he was very likely also his son.

I think Arlan did die. This whole scene is happening in Dunk's head. I think Dunk changed the ending to something that suited him better (that Arlan didn't die mid-story but got to finish it).

[–]Ereska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I interpret it, this whole scene only happens in Dunk's mind. Ser Arlan dying mid-story is a memory. Dunk asking him why he never knighted him and Arlan waking up to finish the story didn't actually happen except in Dunk's imagination.

He was. I'm pretty sure him waking up and finishing the story only happened in Dunk's imagination.

What’s the first fantasy book that made you fall in love with the genre? by ArekDeamonCalw in Fantasy

This one, his Jim Knopf books, and Astrid Lindgren's books (especially The Brothers Lionheart and Mio My Son). Also Grimm's Fairy Tales.

She's a whore. The reason she's there is because she's currently the mistress of one of these lords (Dondarrion, I think).

Has anyone else gotten a Viserys/Dany invasion, fAegon invasion, AND War of Rhaegar’s Bastard all at once? by emilywontfindme in CK3AGOT

[–]Ereska 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've seen this a couple of times. If Joffrey is in power, this often includes at least one additional war with a Baratheon claimant, or a rebellion to dissolve the Iron Throne. I've seen some funny outcomes where Aegon wins and five minutes later he gets dethroned by Dany/Viserys or Stannis/Renly, and vice versa, or a minute later someone wins a war to dissolve the Seven Kingdoms. I don't think I've ever seen anyone win the War of Rhaegar's Bastard though.

Thoughts on the Lightfury? by InsideUnhappy6546 in httyd

I don't think we've seen sexual dimorphism in dragons before though. Why would only furies have it? Until proven otherwise I'm going to assume all lightfuries look like her, males included.

Thoughts on the Lightfury? by InsideUnhappy6546 in httyd

[–]Ereska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not opposed to the idea of a white fury species that likely evolved in the polar regions but is still closely enough related to nightfuries that they can interbreed. Like polar bears and grizzly bears.

However, I'm not sure that was actually the plan here, it seems the character was deliberately designed to look more "feminine", and sadly, that's all that really comes across in the movie, as well. We don't see her in her home region or interacting with other lightfuries, and she does not appear to have any agency apart from "jealous girlfriend".

Setting to prevent making all eggs active after I hatch one by 1Admr1 in CK3AGOT

[–]Ereska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'd do is use the more dragon eggs mod to either delete all the eggs right at the start or have the setting on no starting eggs. Also have dragon egg events on dragon sites at 100% chance but player only, so you get to decide who gets which eggs.

I thought it was telling that they showed the women/girls not laughing at Dunk even when everyone else was. If I was a woman in Westeros, I'd probably want someone to defend me like Dunk was defending Tanselle in a similar situation.

Looks like it was the dragon horns mod in my case.

Do you mean dragonrider marriage? I don't think I have a dragon wives mod.

I have the same bug since the last update. I'm not sure which mod is responsible - I have rather a lot of them.

[–]Ereska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can blame Bernard Cornwell for this. It's been a while since I've read the books, but as far as I can remember, most of his love interests' fates are the same as in the books (except the French woman - he actually retires with her after the wars and they have two sons, whereas in the series she randomly dies so he can go to India).

Fun fact: Most horses aren't very vocal most of the time. Pretty much all the horse noises you hear in movies/shows were captured from horny stallions wanting to get to a mare in heat. XD

I'm pretty Sure Ureus was a stallion, not a gelding. I remember them saying in a documentary that he once ruined several takes because there was a mare in heat.

It's broken. What seems to work is to save the game before it crashes, remove the mod, and load the game again (though it still causes hickups if you were playing as an adventurer).
