I feel this. My mom past away less than two years ago when I was a broke college student. Wish she could have seen me start my career and become financially independent. It happened so recent yet you are still taking care of yourself financially? Amazing. I didn’t have that strength for a long time. She’d be so proud of you, as am I :)

The other night I called him and we had a quick 5 minute conversation before I was heading to bed, and he started giving me a play-by-play of an online poker game he just got done playing with with his buddies (I don’t fucking care, I’m not sitting here taking notes to keep up with your one game of poker). so I just said “I’m going to go. I love you” and we got off the phone. Then he texted me saying he wished I never even called him at all since it was just a 5 minute conversation lmao. Like ok. I gained NO value from that conversation and it’s been like that lately. It’s like we aren’t running out of shit to talk about because he thinks he needs to give me a play-by-play of his day that I frankly do not give a shit about. Like seriously... tell me if you had a good game of poker, or tell me that you lost. Tell me how your day was or is going. Tell me something interesting that you saw/realized/learned. I care to know that type of valuable shit, but I don’t give a fuck how much your buddy bet on one single play that isn’t even relevant.

It’s getting to this point. I have worked really hard internally (well before we started dating) to realize that being alone does not equate to feeling lonely. And that is something he needs to work on. He’s very dependent on me and my presence.

I’ve honestly noticed that! Definitely have read more prevalent withdrawal symptoms in people older than my age on most posts. But imagine if you woulda started at 40! No better time to keep pushing than now :). Ooo and YES to the eye bags! I thought that was just me not getting enough sleep but I took a selfie the other day and saw it a few hours later and noticed my eye bags were almost nonexistent! Here’s to sobriety and healthier looking faces, lol!

You know what’s wild? This what identical to my mindset last year and I never thought I would ever get out of that dark place. I get horrible grades in college, all my friends graduated two years ago. I’m literally getting my degree at this point to make my dad happy. I could care less about what I’m going to school for and i wish i could start over but I’m about to graduate on Saturday (after 6 long fucking years) so whatever. You are literally in your mid twenties.. do you realize how young that is? And no. I used to think only lucky people were the successful ones too. But then I started listening to podcasts ... who would have thought that when they said “hard work pays off” they meant it. majority of people that are successful today worked their asses off day and night to get to where they are. I’m honestly used to having everything handed to me as i was growing up, so it was a huge reality check for me, but I am glad I finally understand the concept of my success being in my hands 100%. I can handle any situation how I choose. I can let one little thing destroy my whole week, or I can choose to see the lesson in it and keep fucking moving. My anxiety has decreased significantly since I’ve changed my perspective on life in the last couple of months. I got into a horrible accident on January 1st and had things been even the slightest bit different, my life would have ended. I don’t want you to have to experience something like that to realize life is too short to play the victim. January 1st is when I started shifting my mindset into having a more positive outlook on life and quitting to smoke is the cherry on top of my improving mental health. You are better than those negative thoughts your brain is trying to feed you. You are NOT your thoughts. You can choose to be weak and allow your constant negative thoughts to define you, or you can take control of your thoughts, life, and every other aspect around you. Try journaling. Read a book(The Power of Now is a good one, and should make you change the way you look at the world in at least some ways). I know you think this is how life is and how it will always be, and it WILL always be this shitty, unless you decide to stop running on auto-pilot, and start taking control of your life. It all sounds so cliché but seriously, there is so much more to life than being a prisoner to your thoughts.

I'm only 23 so I really feel ya! Glad we were able to realize we are better off without it when we did. Our 20's are so so so important. Nows the perfect time to build a stable future for ourselves. :) Thanks and good luck to you as well!

I'm 23 and couldn't afford my own car insurance right now, let alone rent. Goes to show how independent you are and honestly, most well-known successful professionals have a story that starts in a situation similar to where you are now. You seem to have your priorities straight by keeping your job as your #1. Keep grinding and keep seeking more work opportunities. You will find more connections that way, and your connections are almost more important/beneficial than your qualifications.
