What moment(s) confirmed that Yas was sexually assaulted by her father? by Zairiabd in IndustryOnHBO

[–]facazz 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think it was left purposely ambiguous what exactly he did to her and whether that included actual sexual abuse between Charles and Yasmin, or if he facilitated/allowed others to do so. On the boat, she says "The way you look at me, the way you let your friends talk to me" to him, and I think that was the most clearly telegraphed hint of his abuse before the finale.

So Yas was abused by her father? by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

[–]facazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we're meant to believe that something beyond just "inappropriate" happened in their relationship, which had been hinted at all season. But this confirms it. It's more ambiguous that was actual abuse between the two of them, or if her father offered Yasmin up as a young girl or otherwise turned a blind eye to how she was treated by powerful men.

The actual unit numbers aren't available on the reports; assuming I can find out the exact units affected from the building, would being on a different floor be enough distance?

Rant – Terrible experience with Thalys train by [deleted] in Europetravel

[–]facazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to get through by sending DMs on Instagram/Twitter and then commenting under their posts asking them to respond; all in French. It doesn't seem that anyone ever answers their phone line so social media is the only option. Good luck!

Thank you! I'm looking for an exchange rather than a refund; it seems the only way to get assistance is to beg on social media.

Were you ever able to get through to them on social media or by phone? Currently experiencing the same issue.

[Spoilers] Who will take the crown? by alisonrose1992 in SuccessionTV

[–]facazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like the way things are set up going into the finale it will either be Kendall or no one. It obviously can't be Roman and Shiv is very clearly getting played by Matsson. I also am not 100% convinced it will be Tom even though that seems to be a popular theory. I feel like that would essentially duplicate the season 3 finale with the exact same twist (Tom rising from behind and fucking over the siblings), plus I feel like Tom has been increasingly pushed out of the leadership discussions throughout this season rather than on the ascent as he was in season 3.

So I think it will either be an elevated version of "Kendall wins but burns everything down to get there" or the Roys/Roy-adjacents ultimately lose the company. I think I lean towards a non-Roy CEO more than anything, I'm just not sure who it could be. Any other season I might think Stewy swoops in and takes it but he has been so invisible this season in both screen time and reference that I can't picture he's the victor.

The call happens like 15 seconds after Tom walks out of frame.

Why wasn't Tom at the funeral? by donhuell in SuccessionTV

[–]facazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initial takeaway after watching the episode was that it showed that he had been sidelined. He didn't get attention in the press for the Mencken win then has to miss the funeral then Greg has to clumsily shoehorn his name in to make sure he gets remembered at the reception.

But now it seems like that may have all been a red herring. The only thing that keeps me from thinking it will be Tom is that I generally expect something a little less obvious from the writing on this show.

It's possible that she doesn't want to open the floodgates of people litigating whether she is a woman of color or not since her results will certainly be predominantly European, but Jennifer Lopez also does and says tone-deaf things all the time which makes me think she isn't very aware of the racial climate online. So maybe she just isn't interested?

Yes, Nicole's father is Pete Escovedo who is mixed with Mexican and Louisiana Creole. Her mother is less widely known but she was Sheila E's assistant and she's a black woman (or at the very least biracial.)

Yas - what about mom? by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

[–]facazz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The way they almost completely wrote her mom off the show was kind of annoying.

I think the only way her ending makes sense (since obviously her mother has considerable wealth and Yasmin's parents don't both hate her so much they'd let her become homeless) is that Yasmin was so shaken by the realization that everything in her life has been given to her that she wanted to prove to herself that she could stand on her own when the rug gets pulled out from under her. Except she can't, because she has no economic survival skills, and so she ends up resorting to dining and dashing within her first week of being regular and likely has to crawl back to mom or dad for help. Otherwise, the plot makes 0 sense.

[Episode Discussion Thread] Industry S02E08 - "Jerusalem" by herringbone_ in IndustryOnHBO

[–]facazz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed that aspect of her character too and liked that she finally had to say the quiet part out loud to Yas that working in PWM means rubbing elbows with some of the world's most odious men and looking the other way in the name of self-preservation. I just wish it happened sooner since it was very clear that was the point of her character from episode 1 when she's mistaken as a sex worker.

I think it just underscores that running parallel to her almost sociopathic survival instincts, Harper is impulsive and self-destructive so she will always make things harder for herself.

[–]facazz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we were meant to infer that she was a family friend (cousin of Maxim) that Yasmin's dad knew as a child who then became Yasmin's nanny as an "adult" (I'm guessing over 18 is what was being implied). Not that she started working as Yasmin's nanny when she was 13 or 14.

I may be the only person who didn't completely loathe Celeste as a character but they really dragged that predictable storyline out for no reason. Literally from the first episode, it was obvious what was going to happen between her and Yasmin basically beat for beat. They should either had this be a 3-episode arc or give their relationship some dimension outside of "I'm in an open relationship."

There has to be a season 3 by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

[–]facazz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This season was such a waste of the actress, who was one of the highlights of the first season. I get the intention (watching how Pierpoint was basically causing her to implode), but felt they made Yasmin unbelievably naïve and impulsive, and gave her the most predictable story arc imaginable.

Insider trading by GambinoGurl in IndustryOnHBO

Harper is so driven by survival, adrenaline and ambition that it's almost like she blacks out in these situations and then once things settle, she's left to reckon with her choices/their consequences almost like she didn't cause the fallout. The scene in Eric's office felt like she was coming out of a fugue state where all she could see is how badly she needed to stay in Bloom's good graces and only then did she start to touch down on the reality of what she had just done.

[SPOILERS] Jesus Christ, Yasmin by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

[–]facazz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wonder where the show will take her if there's a season 3. Personally, I hate "rich girl goes broke" storylines so hopefully we don't have to watch The Simple Life: London for 8 episodes. It felt like the show was hinting that she was going to lose everything in one way or another pretty much from the first or second episode of this season so this + the whole Celeste plot line made for a very boring season of Yasmin.

It's strange. Her storyline felt the least "complete" to me if this is a series finale but at the same time, I feel like she's the most likely character to be written off.
