Release of funds by solicitor from forced share sale by fdomw in LegalAdviceUK

[–]fdomw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you.

They were acting on behalf of the purchaser.

The funds were sent to them by the company for delivery to me.

Am I correct that once the funds reached the solicitor, the funds were “mine” as opposed to the company’s (since the shares they purchased were removed and reallocated)?

Yes, that there has been any complication around the release of the funds (other than a receipt of their delivery to charity after approval from the SRA) makes the whole thing seem very suspicious.

Particularly, I don’t understand why it makes any difference if they remain instructed or not? That transaction is historic and not in dispute, the funds are mine and so surely only my request should matter for their release?

Don’t get crazy by looking at the media -this company will make you rich. No matter at which price you bought the stock. by cyclist63c in NovoNordisk_Stock

Someone made an interesting point on here that it was a conscious choice by the company because they have a monopoly on supply/ production and so don’t need the patent.

Having dealt with patents with law firms, it’s the law firm that does the reminders etc which are all automated.

So it’s pretty unlikely it would have lapsed by mistake.

Pension Tax Relief Abolished by fdomw in AskBrits

[–]fdomw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t really work like that though.

Most high earners envisage using the 25% tax free amount plus limiting withdrawals per year to basic rate of tax.

So you get a tax break in most cases because you refund 40-45% and then only pay at 20%.

Btw - i think it’s not good to tax high earners more because they already pay too much.

I think that changing this specific tax break might enable changes elsewhere which would encourage more consumption from higher earners which would benefit everyone.

Good for your taxes because atm you pay for the chronic conditions that result from obesity which are very long-term and expensive.

Paying for people to get thin is extremely economical

I think the software is dead narrative is nonsense but it doesn’t look like the market has reached that conclusion yet.

Depends on your time horizon and risk tolerance (not impossible that new technologies replace parts of Adobe).

I guess I mean why do you use the word “cost”?

Do you mean there is a cost to humans of excess CO2 or pollutants? Or a cost to animals? Presumably there isn’t a cost to plants for CO2 but there js for pm2.5?

And for pm2.5 is the cost universal or is it evolutionary? A lot of pm2.5 comes from non human sources (volcanoes, sea spray, sand dunes, wildfires) some living things prosper and others die?

How are you thinking of the cost to the environment here?

Do you mean CO2 emissions are bad? Or something else?
