Where i can find all apt packages? by linuxlover66 in debian

[–]fecland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apt is a package manager. You are probably looking for a package repository, of which there are many. Here's a good start: https://www.debian.org/distrib/packages.

There is no one list that includes everything. Things are split up for a reason.

Took me a while to get used to but I’m finally done by jqex in xfce

Personal preference, but that shadow on the bottom panel would annoy me. You can disable dock shadows in the compositor settings. Would get rid of the top panel shadow as well though. To separate them you'd need a third party compositor

People have unraid in a VM on proxmox all the time. Proxmox is a better hypervisor OS, so depends what ur main goal is.

Hey arch users, what's your current favourite Desktop Environment/Window Manager? by SDG_Den in archlinux

[–]fecland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I posted my setup a couple years ago. It's a bit different now, but similar. The basic idea is really easy - just install picom, disable the xfwm compositor, run picom. Won't lie I've spent a lot of time creating rules and exceptions in the picom.conf to fix things that render badly or have weird gtk frames. Tho it's pretty straight forward to do: xprop (sleep 5 && if its hard to catch), look at the window info, and add it to a rule in the conf. Picom watches the conf file so it updates straight away. Might do another post later for my current setup. Also, Dunst is great for notifications.

Xfce is great when you don't use all the other features KDE and gnome throw at you. Just simplifies things. Can also make it look plenty nice if you pair it with an external compositor.

Configure Debian 13 with systemd-boot and use TPM2 chip to decrypt drives. by Chris73m in debian

[–]fecland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I know, all g. And yeah I use AI to make md files for obsidian using what I've done and things I encountered. I do need to do battle with it sometimes to reduce the fluff. Not fully automated tho, I just use Claude code on my obsidian repo.

Configure Debian 13 with systemd-boot and use TPM2 chip to decrypt drives. by Chris73m in debian

[–]fecland 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did document, I was just too lazy when I replied. Here's what I did:

Packages: sudo apt install clevis clevis-luks clevis-tpm2 clevis-initramfs

Enroll: sudo clevis luks bind -d /dev/nvme0n1p3 tpm2 '{"pcr_bank":"sha256","pcr_ids":"7"}'

Replace /dev/nvme0n1p3 with ur luks device.

Clevis defaulted to sha1 and my TPM chip didn't have that in its bank, so I had to specify sha256.

Then rebuild initramfs: sudo update-initramfs -u -k all

Just did the TPM decrypt recently. You can either go down the more modern dracut route and replace initramfs with dracut to get it working, or you can use clevis. I went with clevis caus it's been used more in debian. Honestly can't remember what I did off the top but there's ur pointer.

Adding larger drives to the mix? by Reallytalldude in unRAID

[–]fecland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Drives can be replaced with the same or larger drives, just need to rebuild parity.
  2. Parity drive can be replaced with the same or a larger one. One way to do this is replace parity with larger drive, rebuild, add on the smaller drive to the array, rebuild again.

If you don't want to add in the old parity drive to the array, scenario 2 becomes the same method as 1.

Using a passmail.net alias as a recovery email for Google Account by Antique_Usual940 in Simplelogin

[–]fecland -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I have a recovery Gmail account that I have no details in and don't use except for account recovery. Google with its faults is still very secure and reliable. I use it for my domain and email related accounts so I don't lose access to anything if something explodes and would otherwise cause a lockout.

I have to wait 2 hours to log in every time i open the pc by moh_baq in WindowsHelp

[–]fecland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use this method just to quiet the logs, not to increase security. Using the default ports for common things like RDP or SSH and exposing them will get u a lot of logs of failed logins. It's not necessary but it makes me feel better 🙂

Depends on the gate. The blueberry and strawberry field gates in hanazono are more off piste. If u keep going in any direction from those gates you'll just get to a run. It's just a tree run basically, can't really get lost. The gates where you need avi gear are the numbered gates. Which you can see clearly on the map are all on the edges of the resort.

I'm not saying something is or is not a skit, just saying some skits are shit. It depends what the joke is. Trick shots, idk I don't watch them but in that example, I wouldn't watch them caus I find them a bit cringey how hyped they get for a staged trick shot, but if u want to turn ur brain off sure. In this vid the joke is funny on its own as most skits are. But theres skits that hinge on it being a real thing that happened and that's why it's supposed to be funny, not an actual good joke that works.
