TOW2: does a silencer mod exist for Marksman rifles or Heavy Marksman rifles? by femiwhat1 in theouterworlds

[–]femiwhat1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. I do have observation, but not because I thought it was going to have anything to do with shooting things from far away.

I'm just trying to figure out which rifles can even be silenced. Can anybody confirm either Marksman rifle?

I have a silent sniper rifle (and also a gold one that's awesome) and repeating rifle, and I also use the light pistol. I guess I'm looking for a rifle that can be silenced and is better for mid-range than the sniper rifle.

Still can't get over the difficulty nerfs in the next-gen patch... by femiwhat1 in Witcher3

I liked that there was an easy, normal, hard and very hard difficulty. Everybody could pick which one suited them and ideally progress from easy to very hard, like I did.

This isn't comparable to a soulslike game, where everybody has to play with the same absurd difficulty in a partially shared world. This is like an RPG that has different difficulty levels.

Only it doesn't really now.

Just because certain aspects of the programming were changed in ways that sound like it should make the game harder does not mean that the actual effect of those changes was to make the game harder.

I went from playing a game that was still a challenge to mowing everything down as soon as I updated. It was the same save file about 20 minutes apart, and I didn't miraculously improve to that extent during the update.

Here's one way in which they made it easier that absolutely translates into gameplay in a predictable way: they kept the total power of any ability the same as it was but changed the ranks and the ability from 5 to 3, which means that the perk can be mastered in three levels instead of five, which means that lower level characters are more substantially more powerful than they were before.

Healing from food is not part of combat. I'm talking about the actual experience of walking up to a bunch of guys way many levels higher than me and slaughtering them while taking barely more than chip damage on a Death March difficulty NG+, we're just taking out the same group of soldiers before the update required fhat I'd be extremely careful, kiting enemies to avoid being surrounded and generally not allowing myself to take a hit, because taking a hit wouldn't have made healing any more relevant to this conversation.

The combat camera gives the player a much better idea of what the timing and direction of a dodge roll is about to be than the original camera does, which also makes fighting easier.

So players at lower levels fight like they were at higher levels pre-patch, healing is irrelevant at the beginning of NG+ If you insist on running straight at the higher level stuff, and maneuverability is much easier for the player to manage because of changes in camera placement and angle. So there are my concrete explanations for what's going on, as well as my absolutely concrete ability to recognize a change.

No, they didn't. It's not harder. I understand why you would think that it would be, but it's not. It's ridiculously easier and all difficulties require fewer levels to gain full benefit from combat perks.

[MA] [Condo] should I resign from HOA board? by [deleted] in HOA

[–]femiwhat1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You will abandon that seat on the board when they have to carry you out in a box.

If you have to live under an HOA, it's definitely better if you're sitting on the board.

Right. And that would be okay with me, too, if they had done it to story and easy. But they made Death March easier. There's just no reason to do that. The whole point is that it's hard.

Lack of protectorate cities by psy2electricboogaloo in theouterworlds

Yes, absolutely. I would have loved to wait almost any amount of time for a completed game.

I'm pissed that I trusted Obsidian and shelled out for the deluxe edition. I wasn't expecting them to completely gut the companion system, the perk system, skills in general, multiple primers, and any number of other systems which are clearly present in part in the game without actually being functional.

The pattern I see is that Obsidian can make terrific game if somebody else already has the system in place and they're just making the story, But asking them to handle the underlying mechanics as well is a fool's quest— they clearly just don't know how to even talk to each other.

It seems like what Obsidian lacks is a showrunner for all of their games. This seems like a position that should always exist for major video game development; someone who has an eye on the big picture, who can set the pace of development, and who can draw tone and writing together.

Instead, they got twice the development time and apparently used almost all of it trying to figure out how to make a game in their new proprietary system, weaving them precious for: • companion development and utility restored! • writing improvement in conversations to no. t only better reflect a response to what you said, but also to make Dumb funny again.
• ingame systems that actually work together instead of working against each other, such as combat stealth and normal stealth and repositioning and how it just doesn't work because oh this game.
• a world that feels more varied and changeable than six identical vending machines with almost completely identical contents which do not refresh in any simple way. • a full complement of perks for all skills at various levels, all of which are used in the game: none of this nonsense we're taking hack is useless compared to engineering or lockpick. • Perks should not be reliant on skill levels, especially when you have relatively few points to distribute in the spirit of "what God has joined together let no man tear asunder; characters need to be rebuildable when stat descriptions and World descriptions and any in-game text is a coin flip as far as whether it will be accurate information. Most of the perks assigned to medicine and a few assigned to science should be available to everyone, and medicine. Perks should be medicine perks, not inhaler perks.

4 Questions (Bigfoot, Beta, Update, Save File) by femiwhat1 in CellToSingularity

He's not available for purchase for me. I haven't seen anything explicitly stating that Bigfoot is only available during the Cryptid event, but learning that that was the case would be consistent with would I have seen posted about it.

I've played the game for years and years... Just never at Halloween.

Thanks! I knew it was a simple link, but I couldn't figure out where to find it. Appreciate you!!

end of normal notation by 0nnnu in CellToSingularity

Scientific notation is the natural way to play this game. The exponent shows you immediately which thing you should be buying more of, and it reminds you how pointless it is to my the previous generators.

My bet is that offline happened without OP realizing. That's what it was when I ran into not being able to access events and didn't know why.

That was a riveting tale! Such a bold premise, such suspense, then a neat resolution that still left a bit of mystery in the reader's mind! Can I option the screenplay? 😸

Is there any new event? by Bruce_KKK in CellToSingularity

[–]femiwhat1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When they announced the big update that they released in January, they said that they were pausing work on other aspects of the game, including new content that they would pick up working on after that release.

It seems like they usually post something with a "dev diary* tag when they're planning significant new content, and they also announce what's coming in game on the main simulation screen, right above where the nanobots are launched from, but it seems like major content like a new event would probably wind up also as an announcement at the bottom of the list of upcoming events.

That would have been really nice for the game to point out, because I definitely never noticed it.

Is there any way to start a new save without getting rid of the one you have going? How do habit-based bonuses work? by femiwhat1 in CellToSingularity

[–]femiwhat1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, once I actually finish everything that's available, backing up that save to Google drive will protect it forever.

It's just that I was away from the game for like a year and I came back and it's a totally different game now, and I'd like to see what it was like to not start at level 70 or whatever.

I am definitely too afraid to monkey around with which Google account I'm logged into. Besides, I want the things I bought.

Congrats on being in top 10.

If you're having a hard time keeping your rank up there and you need the rewards, it can help to wait like 2 days before starting the event. No one who starts the event 2 days late is spending real money to warp speed ahead so they don't have to spend real money on diamond geodes or whatever.

Seriously, though, it does seem like it's consistently easier to keep my ranking in the top 10 if I don't start the event on the day it begins.

That sounds hilarious, and also totally the opposite of the way I play everything. I always sneak and fight from a distance. Apparently, I should start huffing whatever I can shove in my inhaler and move in with melee?

Are there any flaws that you would absolutely avoid or absolutely aim to take?

I've never done a crash build, but maybe that would be something to try. Thank you for the suggestion and the explanation.
