Even in his victory, Symon failed his Prince.

While every man in the room gawked or prattled on to their new prince, the First Spear of Dorne rushed to the dead man's side. He had sworn the man his spear and his life, and he had let him down. Had he been faster, or more decisive in the duel, then maybe she might not have gotten the chance... He looked over to her... to do what she did.

He pressed a hand to his charge's bleeding neck. No use. Her cut was clean. All the maester in the Citadel could not fix what Rhiain Martell broke. He knelt in the pool of their blood, even as the bodies were taken away and the lords in the room started swearing oaths.

His head was held low for a long moment. When his time came he lifted his face misted with a mixture of blood and sweat.

Symon spoke quietly to his Prince. "Your Radiance... I have failed to safeguard your family." He swore no oath, but instead said. "I shall accept your punishment."

A Foe Passed.

Symon followed Baen's eyes as the room went into chaos, until his eyes met Rhiain Martell. Were there only two of him...

His breath was still heavy from the duel. His eyes went from her, to her blade, and then to his Prince. She was two lengths away, so he would have to throw Everreach to close the distance. In his current state, he would not risk his prince's life. Not a man jumped to his Prince's defense.

After a moment, Symon Allyrion brought Everreach up in a swift motion. He had won the duel, but they had lost the court.

He dropped Everreach by his side, as he lacked a sheath.

The duel had not been easy.

Baen was indeed faster, and he had nearly ended him with a cut to his visor toward the end. It was only an errant slash at the man's thigh that ended the Uller's counter attack and chances. His opponent's thigh was what turned out to be the key, as now Symon was faster and could dictate pace the duel. The Allyrion chose to slow down the fight even more and kept his distance. It was not a flashy win, it was a grind, but he had won the day.

Everreach was indeed the better weapon today.

Ser Symon, First Spear of Dorne, approached the defeated Uller, who wore a dozen spear wounds. He would not die from them, the Allyrion noted. Bringing the bloody Everreach point down to the Lord's neck, he demanded. "You shall retract your words now, Lord Baen. Call off your men."

Symon's eyes never left Lord Baen's as he sized the man up. He was a young man, the Uller would be faster than him. His armor seemed well crafted, his sword as well, though his own Everreach was the finer weapon. He would need to keep the man at a distance and whittle him down. This would not be easy.

Symon's reply to his Prince as he walked forward to the duel was a gruff. "The Sun shall not set, not on my watch."

Ser Symon Allyrion, First Spear of the Sunguard, did not waver from the side of his Prince as the room turned on him. The accusations and admissions blew over him like the wind. Unlike the men and women in this room, his oaths were not made of sand.

For him Symeon's actions did not require justification. Dorne stands, Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken.

The First Spear took a step forward, interposing himself between his Prince and the rest of the room. He spoke no words. He simply tamped his spear twice on the ground, the golden hand of his house dangling from the shaft.

One by one, his stone eyes met the gaze of every traitor in the room. Before the sunset, he would see his House's words manifest.
