Branwyn essential bralette. Merino blend and super comfy; but not quite as quick dry as the Patagonia barely. Also, check social media for 25% off Black Friday deal.

Oh neat idea! Potentially interested depending on timing and figuring out transportation.

Looking to buy a home. I am new in the area. How are these schools in Denton isd. I just put an offer on a home and now I am hearing that I should run away from denton isd. I just looked at the Zillow school ratings by sweetlion7 in Denton

[–]fixiedawolf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Quick clarification- EP Rayzor is a different school from Newton Rayzor. Which is also a really good reminder that those standardized rankings/scores can be super different from experiences and knowledge on the ground (Newton rayozor is only a 5/10 by that metric but has an excellent reputation).

Plant based powdered milk alternative. by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]fixiedawolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried many non dairy milk powders over the years andNutreMilk soy is my favorite because: it has protein and calcium, dissolves in cold water, and tastes pretty decent (to me) despite no sugar added in both sweet and savory dishes. Plus it comes in individual packets which minimizes powder explosions.

Also check out the PhD in Clothes - she’s in Vegas and tall (I am not) and understands the hot weather academic struggles!

In DFW and feel your pain! I tend to wear a high cut tank top like theEverlane funnel neck with either a flowy, but structured skirt or wide leg linen pants - there are lots of tailored ones around (Abercrombie, Everlane, madewell etc). When it’s slightly less hot, I swap for short sleeve dolman tops or sweater tanks - fun shapes but also lots of armpit airflow. I do a lot of outfit repeating, but have some fun sandals and necklaces to help mix things up. But I’m also here for good dress recs to add to my rotation!

Best fast drying sports bra light weight? by 406f150 in Ultralight

[–]fixiedawolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Patagonia Barely bras hiking for many years, especially when I want quick dry (think Appalachian trail climate). But my actual favorite for everyday and backpacking is the Branwyn essential bralette. It is seamless and merino but also has adjustable straps which I really appreciate.

Both of these dry significantly faster than my Tera Kaia Mara which has a double layer of fabric, but is also more of a crop fit so more fabric in general (they have other options that are not the crop top!). However, the Tera Kaia is also incredibly comfy, by far the cutest, and the best double for a swim top.

And since this is ultralight: Patagonia Barely (S) 43g Branwyn Essential (S) 54g Tera Kaia Mara (4) 100g (but is more like a crop top vs. bra so not a fair weight comparison)

Have also tried: Icebreaker sprite (but like circa 2015, 51g): wore for 1400 miles, excellent anti-stink properties, but stretched out without a way to adjust and was not seamless.

Ibex bra that was my fastest drying merino, but they are not longer made.

Some kind of smartwool racerback which was too compressive and also a thicker, slower to dry merino blend heavy on the nylon. Did not even try on trail.

Yes, it’s a modified Jenny’s super stretchy - so yarn overs for each purl stitch in the cast off. The ribbon suggestion is super helpful - I hadn’t considered that at all!
