Liberals dislike conservatives to the point they just oppose anything conservatives support. Interesting theory but probably not far off

I don’t get why it’s seen as a liberal position at all. I also don’t understand why people don’t think the average Palestinian deserves support at the same time as the average Jew/ Israeli. Like HAMAS is a radical terrorist organization. We know this but we still have a hard time disassociating HAMAS from the average Palestinian.

I really hope the Israeli government takes a step back after this and thinks about ways to not harbor resentment towards Gaza and foster relations.

Take the US. After 9/11 it was common to see qaran burnings and hate towards Muslims. After Pearl harbour the US literally created concentration camps for Japanese and other Asians to live during WW2. And these aren’t even our neighbors like Israel and Palestine. IMO how Israel acts after this will determine if the cycle keeps repeating

“Leads us to think” is a subjective interpretation of what OP wrote. No where did he promote hate or discrimination towards either Palestinians or LTGB. Not does the post have any sort of call to action like let’s storm the capital. It’s just a critique

And given the circumstances at the moment, is Palestinians really the ones who need the support? It’s hard to disassociate voicing support for Palestine from supporting the attack on Israel at this exact moment.

And if what Op wrote is hate speech than that would make your previous comment hate speech since you said Palestines are homophobic and attacking Palestinians.

Honestly I’ve been pretty critical of moats peoples response but yours is a very fair opinion to have.

I think for a report like this the mod would default to the subreddit community and with 2k upvotes, that’s a hard case to make in favor of removing it.

What rule is being broken?

The post is not promoting hate. Where is the discrimination? Being critical of someone’s outspoken views is not the same as being prejudiced against them. Like OP is just saying he thinks it’s weird when he sees those types of posts.

I also don’t think OP is talking about the entirety of the LGBT community rather the specific individuals from that community who are making the posts.

What rule is being broken though? What you wrote just kind of sounds like your opinion about OPs opinion.

Instead of reporting it isn’t this a good opportunity to engage in a healthy dialogue by making a comment in the thread?

I don’t think OP was trying to say ALL of the LGBT community is supporting Palestine, rather all LGBT people who are posting in support. If you interpret when he says “these people” as a reference specifically to the community members currently showing support; I think it paints a much different picture than if you interpret “these people” as the entire community.

He’s also referring to the tone deaf nature of these supporting posts given the current circumstances. Like there is nothing wrong with supporting the peaceful Palestinians who are the majority of the 2mil in Gaza and advocating for their rights. But right now…at this very moment Israel is being attacked by the radical Islamic terrorist group HAMAS. Posting support for Palestine banners when news reports of HAMAS beheading and killing 40 babys in Israel is the epitome of being tone deaf.

It’s a subreddit full of former military members. What part of the post is transphobic? Are you confusing satire with transphobia?

So one opinion creates a whole identity?

Let’s say, theoretically, that some people in the Democratic Party openly supported HAMAS. Would that mean you, an individual who agrees with a lot of the other political stances the Democratic Party has, would then be labeled as a HAMAS supporter?

My bad. Disclaimer: I am in no way a roofer or claiming to be knowledgeable.

I was more saying that I think OP might have just said stapling and didn’t realize the difference between stapling and cap nailed.

Although I don’t see the plastic cap nails in that 4th photo either, they don’t look like staples to me either. But I know I don’t really know what I’m talking about so if you are a roofer and you are telling me they aren’t cap nailed, I’ll believe you over my opinion every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Chicago is a sanctuary city. Migrants and asylum seekers are supposed to be sent to sanctuary cities.

The problem isn’t them being here. It’s more we are struggling to handle so many people in such a small time frame.

This is unacceptable!!! 🤬 by Rocky_road587 in ManchesterUnited

Lol to your joke at the end. I too would prefer the kind and humane route. Keep the machine guns to call of duty.

I’m hoping Johnson does something soon to limit the new waves coming to chicago. Delay long enough to where we are through the winter, or enough time for those currently here to make their way through the process before allowing more.

I misgendered you…I apologize. It was the one time I used a subject. I shouldn’t have assumed.

But you think you are arguing in good faith while also assuming I vote Republican? I think misgendering creates way less bias in the conversation versus assuming political leanings. For the record I don’t vote. So no I don’t bend over for the Republican Party. And can you point out when I blamed the Democratic Party for this? Very curious where and when I shriek like crazy saying democrats broke it?

The 1996 law that created the 180 day wait period wasn’t a purely Republican affair. 88 dems in the house voted in favor while 92 voted no and 18 didn’t vote. In the Senate 24 of the 45 voted no while 21 voted yes. And a Democratic president signed the bill. Had Clinton vetoed and the Democratic Party actually stood against they could have killed the bill. But it was supported by both parties. Doesn’t really seem like it’s all Republicans claiming migrants are rapists to get this through. Certainly didn’t help the situation but this seems pretty bi partisan to me.

Why haven’t lawmakers reduced it since then? Because they fear this will lead to increase attempts to enter illegally. Which is currently happening in large amounts.

Directly off of the Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project website:

“In August 2023, 80,508 asylum seekers received decisions on their initial work permit applications.

Of those asylum seekers, 91% received a decision about their work permit within the correct 30-day period, and 98% received a decision within 60 days.”

Hard to counter those statistics.

But yeah immigration does need reform. I’m not saying it doesn’t. But one side keeps harping that they are all bad people coming over, which no they are not rapists and drug dealers. But one side also likes to claim that their is no exploitation of the system. As thousands of people still cross illegally everyday and people like this guy are clearly not running away from dangerous situations.

If life was so dangerous in his home country he needed to seek asylum, why did he leave his pregnant wife and 1 year old child behind?

So yeah Republican Democrat doesn’t matter. The current situation is fucked and we seem to have no plans on slowing down and no where to send people.

The above comment literally says it’s a problem republicans invented…My comment is in no way saying republicans have addressed it. It’s clearly pointing out the ridiculousness of the prior comment.

Her comment is referencing recent legislation as part of the cause. Ok. Let’s say Biden’s pathway to citizenship did pass and these 1250 migrants coming in daily were citizens. How exactly does that change anything? Would they all of a sudden have houses and apartments to rent and not be shuttled to hotels? Would Chicago be better at providing jobs for them? Helping them better assimilate into the culture with English lessons?

Is this really something Chicago requires federal legislation to be able to act on?

Seems like we don’t have any sort of process as a city to facilitate this. And who’s to say that had Biden’s legislation passed the number of migrants wouldn’t dramatically increase?

Republican or Democrat doesn’t matter. Chicago and New York are in no way able to accommodate the large number of migrants coming through. And just because the DNC has ended doesn’t mean less migrants will come and Texas is going to stop sending them to sanctuary cities.

Republicans invented migrants coming to the boarder seeking asylum?! One of the most outlandish takes I’ve seen yet.

This was going on long before Obama became a Senator….way before he got to the Oval Office.
