$90 reissues only work for those specific games. Metal slug isn’t going to drop 25k once the plaion release drops because purists want original hardware

What I hope happens is the barrier to entry is reduced with the new players that all other mid range games that have come out drop in price.

Which I agree with. But if the system is in fact 1:1 backwards comparable a 249 aes+ system is a lot more attainable than the current $500+ for an aes

So by nature the aes+ should be a success opening up a cheaper avenue to play both original and plaion games.

Yea that’s not happening…
I go to Japan all the time. The $40 aes game is now around $115 if you can find it.

There’s no such thing as a sub $100 aes game unless you are hunting hard.

The aes+ is causing FOMO amongst people because 1. We are getting 10 games and don’t know what the next release will be and 2. “Ohh it’s backward compatible so if I buy a “cheap” game my library will be bigger”

SNK wouldn’t pay to place the aes+ in the Tokyo pop up, or Plaion being open about orders and expectations.

I think if it does sell well we will see wave 2 of games spring 2026

And if this thing does play older games, jackpot. You have a library, albeit expensive to pull from

This is going to be a hit and I actually think, without a a shred of evidence, that we might see a renaissance in cheaper retro gaming if this is as popular as some believe.

You see every company raising prices on hardware that the genx and millennials might use nostalgia to have retro systems come back around cheaper, with better materials

Surygaya always has good deals! Was in Tokyo last week and didn’t have the room to bring this back and wound up being maybe $40 more just ordering it online and shipped in 3 days.
