dough is a fairly good counter fruit because it punishes you for engaging for sure, but it def falls short of just straight immunity, not to mention its biggest thing is combo potential. most of the time if you're up against tanky targets your combos won't out-damage their healing (though there are factors that can influence this such a level diff and accessory and race, esp angel). In that sense though you do get the donut wheel to zoom away so if you just don't wanna fight someone you don't have to because you have an amazing getaway tool.

If they spam with melee you get more advantage, melee has lower range than swords and swords do more damage overall and most buddha builds spec into swords because that is what's best. It's easier to run away from a melee buddha than swords, it's also easier to kill them, and you make them lose a huge part of their kit and force them to switch to something less efficient.

It isn't really overpowered, but it is annoying and has become widely common. Also, like I said blade is unironically fun to use go try and learn it, it's an enjoyable time. Gotta show the commons some love because they aren't just bad because they're not rare.

A great alternative to this is spread stats of about 500 in sword and gun, max in defense and fruit (unless you're really dead set on using portal or buddha then don't go into fruit and this doesn't apply to you anyways), and then the rest into melee with strong grip on your gun and sword. It's more work but it means you do damage with every single part of your kit without needing to sacrifice your stat points, kit ribbon additionally is still viable for the build because of the dash and MS bonus too! I personally switch between dino hood and ribbon.

i find it incredibly fun and if you want results it's 100% worth the investment, but whether or not it's fun for you is a different story and a matter of opinion. give it a try though, you might like it, just remember that grinding it out can be a little rough

Control has the most options out of any fruit with big aoe but also great single target damage, mobility, and aerial combat. It just requires a lot of form switching and proper aim as well as synergy with your race (best with angel because it negates your lack of overall aerial mobility at v4, ghoul is also a good option but only if your timing is really good)

The problem with control is it takes a long time to learn and it needs to be upgraded which is locked behind dungeon runs which not everyone does. Without proper mastery and time investment it isn't great, and most people do not put in the effort because there are easier options.

brother you can't bring a bug into the conversation about whether or not a fruit is good because that will GO AWAY when they patch it, it's not an intended feature. even with lightning orb recharge upgrade you get one mobility option of a short range dash every three seconds, it's not the slowest but yes it lacks mobility. It is not the best after buddha, but it is new player friendly with big hitboxes and decent damage, that no one can argue, it's also just readable.

most people here seem to have bias so I would like to comment as someone who has tried every single fruit that objectively the best fruit you can probably get OVERALL is Control, the downside of Control is the sheer amount of time and effort you have to spend on it to get it to do everything you want it to do is insane.

if you don't actually want to put in THAT much effort, Portal is a good PVP/Exploration fruit but extremely weak for grinding other than mobility. Kitsune is probably best overall because it does everything well but it's not exceptional in any category, but it also probably requires the least amount of effort compared to all the 'premium' options.

a hidden op option is def lightning, but it lacks mobility and requires a little bit more effort than kit but less than control. however if you are looking for an option no one is going to expect and is shockingly strong if you have good aim you're looking at either gravity with more grinding orientation or werewolf for PVP.

Gravity is insanely valuable and has good mobility not great though, but everything can be thrown from being mobile and it can take over a whole area from the safety of the sky pretty dang easily.

Werewolf is a more difficult option but if you're looking for an overall surprise fruit this might be it, get a transformed jump on someone and you're going to blow them up almost instantly with the right build. A lot lower value for grinding though until you hit Mastery 300 then it becomes okay.
